The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

It's nice to see an old school favourite getting that much love :)
I think that was about 3 days to reach it's target, so it'll be interesting to see how far it goes by the end of the pledge period :)

So this weekend I have been mostly watching Space Battleship Yamoto 2199. This is the latest retelling of this story and had been being released as a series of theatrical films in Japan along with media releases of the episodes and then also been shown on TV starting last April.

For those who don't know the basic story basically Earth has been under attack which has ruined the environment. A transmission is received offering help and a way to travel to get said help. The Space Battleship Yamoto is dispatched and this series, like the others which have come before, covers their journey.

Overall I thought that the series was very good. Yes it is rather farfetched at times and you need to suspend your disbelief but overall it is a enjoyable watch.

Finished watching Cowboy Bebop a couple nights ago. Very good infact I was blown away by the animation on the first episode. Also I can see it inspired other animes aswell with its sci-fi.

Watched about 3 episodes of steins gate, I wasn't quite sure what to make of it on the first episode. But its starting to get interesting, also I really like the main character, he seems a little quirky:p

Halfway through Steins: Gate very good series.
Also just ordered Hellsing Ultimate part 1 and part 2 on blueray, hopefully another random lucky purchase that turns out good:)

Steins Gate is rather good, but picks up almost exactly half way through :)

I watched FMA:Brotherhood over the weekend (well the last of it), and really enjoyed it, it was worth the wait :) (I waited for the UK release, then held off buying it on DVD when Manga stopped the blu-ray releases).

Yeah FMA: Brotherhood is an awesome series, im tempted to buy it on blueray aswell even though I got it on dvd.

Have you watched Hellsing Ultimate before, did you enjoy it?

I loved Cowboy Bebop, I still watch it often.

I also really enjoy Hellsing Ultimate, although it does have quite a few monologues in some parts that seem to go on and on. After which all hell breaks loose. :p:

It's animation quality is really good, the plot, and setting as well. It's just the monologues that throw me off sometimes.
It is far superior than the original Hellsing anime, which was just okay.

Animeigo isn`t that the company that liscensed YAWARA then only released half of the series. And at least in the begining would not ship/sell to the UK?
I know i contacted them regarding yawara when they announced its release only to be told.we don`t sell to UK for liscense issues :(

Aye, Animeigo cannot usually ship to the UK as their licensing and retail are part of the same unit basically (effectively unlike Rightstuff who normally specifically licence stuff through their subsidiaries and are a store who happen to do some licensing, Animeigo are a licensor/distributor first with a vestigial store).
The same is/was true of all the US anime licensing companies who had a retail option on their site, they were all restricted to the US and Canada for shipping in my experience as whilst they can turn a blind eye to what a separate company does, they can't do that with their own direct sales unit.

With BGC I think they have "rest of world" rights for it so selling to the UK/Aus etc isn't an issue, and with Yawara I think they ran into the problem that the sales from the first set didn't reach enough to let them risk doing the second :( (something they look to be trying to avoid with the kickstarter for BGC, and I suspect if it works may use again for other stuff).

On a different note, I watched the K-on! movie a couple of nights ago, and loved it :)

I got into it when my Older brother would watch bleach like 6 years ago.

Finished Accel World. Pretty decent. Still missing the romance from SAO.

Need moar anime with swords, magics and romance.. My google fu is failing for decent recommendations

Like someones already mentioned, Spice And Wolf. It may not sound really good going by the description but its very interesting.
Im currently watching it now for the third time :)

Finally caught up with the latest Freezing season 2, after watching the first season which I liked. But holy *** never been so angry/furious after watching an anime.

Someone kill Luis and the people who tortured Mably

Finished Hellsing Unlimited it was ok, just a mindless turn your brain off and watch the violence. The main character was quite the badass though, nothing really could beat him tbh. Also very weird but I think the series (blueray) finished an episode early like there wasn't an ending.

Sorry to dip in and be 'that guy' but I'm looking for a new Anime series to watch in the thread of FMA, Last Exile, GITS, Beebop, Champloo, Hellsing - i.e. something with action, a bit of humor and not the annoying stretching out of episodes like NGE, Naruto, Blearch etc...

If you don't mind a slightly older animation style (but still good thanks to it being an OVA), you could always try the original Bubblegum Crisis :)

My brains a bit frazzled at the moment so no other suggestions really coming forward apart from possibly Black Lagoon.

Read or die?[/edit]

And on different but marginally related note, for anyone that's interested the Bubblegum Crisis blu-ray kickstarter is in it's last day or so ($50 dollars, plus $10 shipping and any customs fees gets you a HD copy of one of the best OVA's ever ;)).

Thanks :D But yeah I've watched BC, and also another older favorite of mine, Cyber City Oedo 808.

Bubble gum crisis is on kickstarter with 18hrs to go. They smashed there target of $75,000 and have earned $143,000.
The kickstarter is to have it remastered in blueray quality. I pledged £60 to get a copy, I hope I like it as ive never seen it before.
Just noticed on my pledge I get a coin, I know it aint gonna be anything like a STALKER coin but im sure itll be worth something oneday.
