The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Hey All,

Help is needed.... I was reading an article not so long ago about an anime (made by a one of the GITS team) which hinted that it was based on the GITS time line, that it was the GITS past, that GITS was its future... I can't find that article now and I really wanted to purchase the DVD....

I will hug anyone that gets me the answer to this :)

Cheers,

Stelly

Edit:
They're not mentioned in the OP, but been looking at Planetaxel a lot these last few weeks after seeing them recommended elsewhere.
They're not always quite as cheap as say R.S for an individual item, when you do the $:£, but the postage and packaging seems cheaper over all at about £1.80 per disc, there's no customs risk, and the fact they list the regions of the discs they sell is kinda handy. They're meant to be fairly sharpish with shipping too; has anyone else used them?

Unfortunately when you order from them now you'll be faced with a just over £3 customs charge when you get to the checkout stage (I only found this out when I ordered my disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya DVD/BD combo pack from them) also they don't stock items from NISA and aniplex USA so you'd have to stick to either RightStuf or United Publications for those.

True, when you're buying a couple of things though it still works out pretty cheaply and far cheaper than the alternative. Clannad even with the £3 charge (its a one off per order, regardless of size, so order 3 things and it's only an extra £1 each) is still £10+ cheaper than the other options once you add on P&P, customs etc. Even Up1 usually charges me £2-3 or so for postage; which means equally priced, the total order cost from Axel wouldn't be much different.

Just another valid option though that I realised didn't seem to be mentioned around here much; I always advocate shopping around :D

If you do use them then please do give us some feedback. I'm pre-ordered, for the most part, up until around March at the moment but after that I'm pretty fluid.

My concern at the moment would be whether they can reliably source limited editions given that they are a general, not specialist, retailer. That and whether they'll ship to a non-cardholder address.

I've used Axel before, had a few steelbooks from them. They're okay - dispatch is pretty good, keep an eye on postage and final cost though!

That is true (but my point was that they added the extra charge without notifying anybody about the change) but the other problem is the GBP (along with most of the other currencies they list) prices are for reference only as you can only pay in either US and Canadian dollars which makes those prices slightly inaccurate at times and those prices do tend to fluctuate and not from the constant changes in currency conversion rates.

It is a good alternative option since their shipping charges are significantly lower then rightstuf (who recently added a dollar to the first item charge for international shipping) but what I said about their not stocking anything from either NISAmerica and Aniplex USA still does stand which still leaves the usual suspects for ordering series licensed by either of those companies.

It looks like Utena set 3 is in at TRSI, but not the ring :(
So those who ordered elsewhere/without the ring LE should be seeing it shipping in the next few days (not hugely early, but every little helps).

It also looks like Arriety the borrowers is up for preorder (January the 9h), along with the Bebop Remix Legends set for the 2nd.

It's high up my list.

Put up a poll elsewhere and the results so far there are as indecisive as me, with about even votes for Kara, Puella, Chevalier and Ghost Hunt :D

Not helping!! lol

Edit: OK,
Unless anything changes it looks like it's gonna be
1) Chevalier D'Eon
Joint 2nd) Puella/Ghost Hunt
4) Kara No Kyoukai

Based on the 20~ish votes I've had :)

Will do a final tally later this evening :D

Arriety was originally up for pre-order for November but slipped to January :( ...

With the number of things which are supposedly shipping early around the place I may have a bit of a busy week next week. :)

Aye, I remember nearly ordering it then I can't remember if I forgot or Amazon cancelled it when they didn't have a date, although they still have my 5cm per second blu-ray pre-order....(I'm leaving it to see how long it will stay in my orders list).

My 5cm/s BD is currently winging it's way around the world at the moment ;)

Finished a quick rewatch of Hanasaku Iroha earlier :) Started watching Dream Eater Merry earlier and quickly slept through two out of the first 4 episodes ...

Alex, I'd say:
Kara
Ghost Hunt
Puella
Chevalier

edit: Don't think it affects us very much as I don't recall them shipping internationally but ANN are reporting that Bandai are shutting down their webstore in December so their releases will only be available via the usual online retailers instead of directly.

Evangelion... Please help me understand...

Hi Peeps,

I have the Neon Genesis Evangelion Perfect Collection, how does this fit in with Evangelion: 2.0 that is out? I'm not sure I understand if this is within Neon Genesis Evangelion Perfect Collection or if I need to watch it...

Any help understanding would be a great help :)

Stelly

Evangelion 2.0, and the 1.x film as well, are a new retelling of the Evangelion story in film form. There are due to be at least a 3.x film as well but this isn't out in Japan for a while yet even.

It's generally starts the same as the original series (which you'll have in your collection) but does diverge as it goes along.

although they still have my 5cm per second blu-ray pre-order....(I'm leaving it to see how long it will stay in my orders list).

Probably for a while since it's listed with a release date of January 1 2020 (although there is a global edition out in Japan which includes voices of a distant star and she and her cat)

Finished watching Yumekui Merry earlier.

Nice little supernatural series which happens in real life and dreams. Interesting characters and art style and a nice combination of action and supernatural/suspense elements.

I did find that the series started off a bit slowly for me but by the end it was pretty good.

Yeah i didn't dislike it although saw the bad guy a mile off. The I'm checking out the manga, and its not really that much further on from the divergence though unfortunately.

My copy of Paranoia Agent arrived today, and unfortunately scratched as discs loose in transit, so I'm not hoping MVM will sort me some replacement discs.
