The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Ah lucky! Are you going alone or with people?

My group, there is about 20+ of us so far. We going to be spending 3 weeks over there with 2 in Tokyo and 1 in Kyoto.

I was originally going to go to time it to see the next Animelo Summer Live but can't miss a chance like this to go with others with the same interests and the fact they been before, it's too good to miss out.

How long are you going out again for?

JPOP wise, you should be able to find lots of local bands I guess at music bars and small events I guess?

I'm going for just under 3 weeks this time, mostly in Tokyo with a week split between Sapporo and Osaka. I'm traveling with my Dad (for family reasons I often go away with him and my Sister goes away with my Mum) ... he does like some anime but mostly we'll each be doing our own things a lot of the time as we both have other interests.

I've done everything I can at the moment relating seeing the JPop groups I would like to see whilst out there, there are a few other things I can do but they will have to wait till a few days before any shows and I won't know if what I have done has worked or not until then as well.

can someone recommend me a new anime to watch thats already finished?

Im really looking to find something as close to berserk as possible. Ive watched claymore, attack on titan, hellsing, gantz, shigurui etc and loved them all. Just struggling to find more of these dark tragic, monsters/mythical beings/samurai/edo era.

As per usual take pecnarf massive list with a large pinch of salt and if you are actually spending money to buy series make sure that you carefully look at what the series actually are before getting anything, although in fairness this list isn't quite as bad as the normal ones.

I would suggest the following ...
Samurai Champloo
Samurai 7

And out of left field I would suggest Sakura Wars which is a steam punk series set in a fantastical 1920's Tokyo.

there been one or two good anime to live action film of late the. Rurouni Kenshin, the girl who leap through time and Majo no Takkyubin AKA Kiki`s Delivery Service which I've haven't seen yet but it suppose to be good. the kite live action is suppose to be bad as it had a lot of source material tone down, in order to get a 15 rating. some have even said they butter it.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time live action film, whilst pretty good, isn't an adaption of the anime though ... both are taken from the same source novel (as are the many other adaptions of the story over the years). Personally I find both the anime and the live action film a lot better than the original story.

I know I go overboard some time with massive list, but one I give cover a wide range of genres. so that you can have look on the net about them as you might like them, or not. I don't say to go out and buy all of them that would be crazy. yesterday list covers most of what supergt ask for, plus few other that are similar to what he ask for that he/she might like to look at. but for a shorter list that as the dark tragic, monsters/mythical beings/samurai/edo era.

blue gender
Shiki
highschool of the dead
elfen lied
death note,
Mirai Nikki
Perfect blue
monster
Samurai Champloo
Samurai 7
basilisk
Samurai Deeper Kyo

Thanks for the advice guys. I am on the baseball episode of samurai champloo actually.Whilst I enjoy it and find it to be a beautiful and funny series... I paused it to watch the first episode of shigurui and ended up doing an all nighter with shigurui and absolutely loved it. Dont get me wrong I will finish champloo however I prefer a strictly followed story rather than an episodic story with an underlying main story (like champloo and black lagoon).

Out of your list ive seen death note, monster, basilisk and started elfen lied. I think I will give samurai 7 a go though.

My friend has told me I should try three animes called: Seirei no Moribito, Gankutsuou and Souten Kouro. Have you seen any of those?

For anyone looking to replace tokyo ghoul.
Haven't watched parasyte yet but I'm betting that Terraformars is the replacement... last episode seemed like it had more black scenes than normal ones lol.... it got to the point where they had black dots covering heads lol

Somehow don't think it was really meant for crunchyroll and Japanese tv stations lol

I am also happy to report that gundam build fighters (watch free on youtube :)) is off to a great start and I don't mind Gundam Reconguista in G either although it does give me a eureka seven vibe rather than a gundam one strangely.

Parasyte -the maxim-
http://myanimelist.net/anime/22535/Kiseijuu:_Sei_no_Kakuritsu

Horror/Gore-ish type of anime with aliens instead of ghouls

For anyone looking to replace tokyo ghoul.

Just my sort of Anime, cheers

Forgot about the Terraformars that one is on the list as well.

I really need to start again with Gundam. Last one I watch properly was Gundam Wing. For some reason the new ones after Wing didnt really caught my interest

Can't say wing/seed really did much for me personally when I watched it. Gundam wasn't my first mecha series (that was zoids, then robotech) so that didn't help I suppose.

I will say gundam build fighters (try is season 2) is really good in my opinion, it's not pure gundam like wing/00 etc, it's got an element of slice of life too, it's on youtube :)

Unicorn is worth a watch for the art if nothing else, I thought the story was a little lacklustre overall but graphically it's really nice.

I enjoyed Gundam 00 but not everyone will.

only problem with terraformars is that their is so much censorship. I mean at one point their was like 12 black circles on the screen covering things. It kind of ruins the momentum for me. Might wait and see if their is a Blu ray none censor release :)
