The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

This might be separate for one season but the 3 seasons are linked with all the same characters and imo just as good if not better. They are all produced by Netflix. I would highly recommend checking them out if you havent watched them already.

That's odd, I could only find reference to one season on MyAnimeList. I'll look around for the rest. Are they all called Baki Hanma: Son of Ogre? I've already watched the older Baki anime.

Randomly picked " I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too"

Started off as an Isekai, but in a way it's turning into a harem? lol what is this lol

This is actually proving to be better than I thought it was going to be, heading in.

It's wish fulfillment the anime though, but the other world stuff is pretty interesting.

I tried out KamiKatsu but despite a decent episode 1, just fell off a cliff for me after that, so shelved it.

No the title was Baki the Grappler and Baki etc. Its been a while so let me check, i was referring to 2018 onwards made by Netflix Anime. Season 1 was my favourite (Most Evil Death Row Convicts Saga). Sorry what i thought was S1 and S2 was actually split to S1 Pt 1 and S1 Pt. 2 , Netflix does count it as 3 Seasons so a little confusing lol.

S1 Part 1: Most Evil Death Row Convicts Saga (2018) (13 Eps)

S1 Part 2: Great Ratai Tournament/Godlike Clash of the Kids Saga (2020) (13 Eps)

S2: The Great Raitai Tournament Saga (2020) (13 Eps)

Also if you like this kind of anime, if u havent checked out Record of Ragnarok already, defo must watch imo.

I’m quite enjoying it! Will see how long this fish out of water feeling works before it gets stale.

There are SO many characters though but credit to the artists, they are at least making them unique and memorable in this one besides just a change in hair colour.

I can see it keeping me watching for the season at least, most shows are only 12 episodes which isn't a huge commit, and I'm still liking it after the 5 or do episodes that have come out, usually far enough for me to hit the end.

The animation quality is actually decent as well, I can tell the animators have put some good effort into it.

My top picks this season for new shows are:

Oshi no Ko
Heavenly Delusion
Hell's Paradise
Cheat skill in another world*
* (I don't think this is going to re-write the definition of great or anything but I'm personally enjoying it, and for me that's why it's in this list).

Continuing shows:

Demon Slayer
Birdie Wing
Vinland Saga
Gundam: The Witch from Mercury

I am intending to check out Dead Mount Death Play and Skip to Loafer at some point.

Gundam WfM has been a little disappointing but Dead Mount Death Play been a good surprise.

Yep I did Episode 1 last night and it had a pretty compelling start.

Hope people aren't sleeping on Birdie Wing as well, it's a lot of fun.

Yeah I pretty much like all of the Shinkai stuff, as @Raymond Lin mentioned there are some older productions as well before Garden of Words that you may want to check out, but you can see quite a lot of improvements going into the more recent movies in terms of overall quality.

Voice of a Distance Star he made it all by himself…if you watch it bear that in mind. His bedroom, 1 computer.

At the exhibition there was a recreation or may be it was his actual desk and stuff on display, along with the real shoe designed in Garden of Words in physical form.

Oh I didn't realise he'd made that all by himself, that's kind of insane!

Sometimes it's amazing what one person can do.

5CM per second was pretty good too, though you can tell it's not quite to the newer standards, it still looks great. Shorter movie again though.

From what i recall from the exhibition, he made it all in his spare time, in his room, then took it to all the local places to try to show it. The entire thing was by him. Female character's voice obviously isn't, i think that's his wife's voice, but all the drawing, story etc, it's as solo as it can get. It's interesting to see the theme from that early on in terms of the story of what he likes to make.

You can clearly see what he improved upon each by each, which is why i would encourage people to watch it in order, not for the story but for his craft developing. The raindrop animation in Garden of Words for example is something they had done and that animation of rain shows up in all his subsequent films.

re: 5cm per second, which i think refers to the distance of a sakura falls. When i was in Japan and the wind blew a little harder and all the sakura started falling, I think about this every time.

Aye

IIRC the initial version was made on a mac in his room with he and his wife/gf doing all the voices and the music done by a friend (and the song by another), that version is/was an extra on the disc, the version that got released basically only had the voice track changed to use professional actors.
Basically he did the story, the art, the animation and male voice, with the only assistance being the music, singing and female voice.
I'm still blown away by that, as pretty much on his own he created one of the best anime I'd seen in years, and even the fact the music was done by work colleagues rather than as the normal anime type production works in it's favour as it's very simple but extremely effective.

I seem to remember the story being that when ADV wanted to put out a HD release of it, they received the original drives from the mac with the renders on them or something like that, and I remember being annoyed at how long it took for it to get a release :p. Having said that my copy of the voices/place promised double pack only cost me £21 on release even if it was on pre-order for 2 years.
