The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Well the animation for blue lock season 2 is a bit meh so far for the 1st 3 episodes. I can see why people are calling it slidelock. But that doesn't take away the fun of the show at least, I'm still getting hyped for our main man Isagi.

Blue Lock's been amazing as well. Don't normally like football anime but this one is the exception because it's so far fetched borderline superhuman with some great character designs.

I know people rate slam dunk and hajime no ippo quite fondly.
The only other sport anime I've seen is eye shield 21 which has the American football shounen flare.
Orange wild heart striker which is quite decent football anime too.
Captain tsubasa which is rated quite high aswell for football anime with a bit of over the top flare too.

Rising impact on netflix was surprisingly good for a golf anime worth the watch can't wait to the next season along with mf ghost :/

Received my Macross plus ultimate edition this morning, what a beautiful set which makes me wish for original + DYRL bundled together now.
Awesome, I just checked my email and it looks like mine is with fed-ex so should be here tomorrow :)

I got my Bubblegim Crisis book through from forbidden planet Wednesday, although i've not had a chance to look at it properly yet.

A little salty they announced another version which had the vinyl for the soundtrack included but I don't think I could have persuade my partner to get it at their asking price.
Its a beauty though the box set, hopefully I can make a shelf dedicated to Macross whenever I get around it as I got JP release of DYRL on blu ray as well.
I haven't got around to watching Bubblegum crisis, I did briefly watch the 1st 3 episodes of the sequel though which I don't think it was as good as the predecessor?

I watched Gundam Requiem for vengeance in english since the original is in english, I tried to watch it in japanese but the lip sync threw me off a little so I switched back.

I suspect they may not have had the rights at the time for the vinyl edition:( If I had the money I'd have bought it despite not having a record player, as the artwork is nice :)
I'm still amazed that after all these years the legal disputes about Macross seem not only to have been largely cleared up, but that we're starting to see stuff coming out officially in the West.

Re BGC do you mean Bubblegum Crisis 2040 or Crash?
2040 was basically a planned out long form retelling of it, as opposed to the cut short OVA nature of the original series (IIRC the original Bubblegum Crisis was meant to be 13 episodes but got cut short to 8*), whilst Crash was a second mini OVA series largely done by different people and has a very different feel.
2040 isn't bad, and has a more coherent long form story as opposed to what are almost standalone 30-45 minute stories, but some of the characters are quite different, and it doesn't have the same charm imo nor the same level of detail and number of little references to other things that the original has, and whilst it's op/end songs are catchy they feel fairly generic early 00's jpop (the original BGC had basically an album of music per episode, and some of them are great).

*Thanks to the nature of the OVA's that doesn't hurt it, just leaves you wanting more.

We are still gridlock for the original Macross + DYRL because of Harmony gold though, they have somehow worm their way to keep hold of the license. Getting a record player has been on my bucket list but never got around to getting one yet but I would have got it myself for the artwork too.
I believe it was 2024 that I briefly watched, they actually aired a few episodes on the old Sky one or Sci-fi channel years ago, from your description of it though it sounded quite messy. Maybe i'll give it another go if I have nothing to watch.

if you mean bubblegum, one of the ova were shown on channel 4 while the other ova and tv series was on scifi channel, i think scifi or channel 4 shown "ad police"
