The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

And no one watched Spice and Wolf and can give a spoiler free appraisal on if it was any good, especially compared to the original version - looking at you @Werewolf?
Very late to the game, but i waited until it all dropped so I can watch it all in one go. All in all, I would say it about the same as the original, there some things the remake does better, and other things the original done better. I can't really spoil it as it's 75% exactly the same as the original, the remaining 25% is the forth book, which the original skipped and did something original on it's own.

Remake:
Cleaner and more consistent character designs
Better animations when something important or sudden happens, like Holo's wolf transformations.
It doesn't skip Book 4, it's obvious this version intends to go on much further and stays more faithful to the original light novels.
Holo's voice sounds more mature and "wiser" than the original, this is because this is the same voice actress but older, I think it suits Holo much better.

Orignal:
Despite the gender swap of Lawrance's friend in the village (with the remake fixed) overall I felt episode 1 of the original is far better paced and narratively draws you in better. But after that it's the same as the remake.
The music is far superior in the original. Espically the theme tune, which was a huge mistake to change in my opinion. The new music is just 'there' and more incidental and just hovers in the background, it's not bad, just it doesn't stand out in the same way, which is a great shame, the original was good enough for me to buy on CD

Over all i's say it's worth watching. Most of it will be like rewatching the original again but it has a never before seen arc at the end.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll probably give it a watch in December, birthday and Christmas is a great excuse to hog the TV a bit :D

I'm glad it's not all a let down, and there ARE things it does better or that make it worthwhile as a restart. There have been far too many remakes that really are just...why?

Hopefully they push through and get all the seasons they need to complete the books!

That's 17 books, which will need at least 4 seasons. I don't know if they're going to get the funding for that but we'll see, but season 2 has been confirmed and will take us up to book 8 at least. The only thing is I hope they improve the music a little, it's just too incidental for my liking but that's a personal choice. Oh and it's been a while since I've seen the original but the banter between Holo and Lawrance is top tier. They love teasing each other

Hey, I'm never going to complain at more Spice and Wolf, especially as it sounds like they're genuinely trying to do a decent job, now the legal bottleneck has been resolved which kept it in sequel hell for years.

I'd like to think they've got a lot of the funding committed for the entire plan.

I wasn't aware of a legal bottleneck, care to elaborate?

Apparently part of the reason we never got any further sequels originally is that a company holding the rights went under and basically took the media rights with them. It took the author and his team a number of years to get the media rights back, once they did, they were then able to kick off this new reboot.

I can't remember the full details as I read it a few years ago, but that was apparently a large part of the reason for the substantial gap between shows.

Bleach always has convenient a**pulls most of the time, like ichigo. A lot of characters should have died but they didn't.

The 0 guard guy got owned by Yuhabach (excuse spelling) and all you had to do was say his namero save him.

The science guy is always gonna 1 up his opponents or have something up his sleeve. I think the only time he lost was against ishida.

#1 arrancar/espada should have owned shunsui but he had a convenient gimmick. Now he's got some power that seems made up as the writer goes along to take out this Quincy.

I'm really enjoying MF Ghost this season, I'm not usually into sport type anime but it's very well done (sorta sequel to Initial D for anyone unaware).

So we got a backstory for the Itoshi brothers in the latest Bluelock episode, the sibling rivalry is very similar to Uchiha brothers in Naruto.
Also it had the most animation, could this mean the next following episodes is going to have S1 quality of animation??

I don't have anything to watch at the moment and liked Baki, I love how preposterous it is and I saw the Kengan Ashura crossover too so I've decided to to start watching Kengan Ashura. I'm not a fan of this CG style anime but I'm four episodes in and I'm enjoying it.

Kinnikuman The perfect origin arc part 1(1-13) is available on Netflix if you want more preposterous/over the top fighting with mix of comedy.
You don't necessarily need to have any prior knowledge of the franchise to enjoy it as the prologue episode recaps everything nicely.

My ATA mystery bundles arrived today (I was a bit silly and bought all 5 of the BD ones*), a quick glance says that whilst I've already got some of them I don't think I've got most of the ones in this years bundles.

I'll try and post what's in each later:)

[edit]
Opened the first two, film ones and bundle 1 had 1 title I hadn't got, bundle 2 had all five as titles I had not got and at least 3 I'd intended to get.

*I used the 15% subscriber discount on them ;) so 25 films/sets for ~150ish seemed a good gamble.
