The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Finished watching Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood yesturday. What a brilliant dark and engaging story. Im pretty much at a loss anime wise what can possible be better than this that i dont already own.

I'm glad i'm not the only one (up to episode 6) :)

I'm enjoying it a lot, I think partly because it's probably been 3-4 years since I last watched it.

My older set was the last complete collection set ADV released which was based off their essential anime release which had no overlays or hard song subtitles.

The only scene that I know has been re-animated was the beginning of episode one (the first battle of mars scene) which was pretty easy to pick up on since the dub audio didn't sync up along with certain parts not being the same as what I remembered.

Yep I already had Index, Shana season 2 and It This a Zombie? slipped out to December (yep Index has slipped too from the end of October) ... it's the addition though of Steins;Gate Part 2, Baka to Test season 2, Heavens Lost Property Forte on BD, other bits of Shana (Movie and S) and some more Tenchi (Movie and OVA on BD) on top of some other releases from Sentai (including the first part of Penguindrum on BD).

I think Shana season 2 has slipped a third time now (it's gone from 11th to the 18th of December now too!)

Looking at my current pre-orders I think I've got one in October, none(!) in November and five in December ... and that's before the consideration of the additions above. But I would expect some of Funimations current December pile to slip into the new year given the number they have for that month compared with the couple of months before.

In fact I think I have more manga pre-orders at the moment than anime.

I've only had Shana season 2 do the slip in my pre-order list (it has only slipped twice from it's original release date to December and then back a further week), and if it slips into next year then it'll give me a little extra cash for other things.

As for my pre-orders, I've got three in October (I'd have to guess that one of those is the same as the one you think you have in that month), one in November (which doesn't include what I'll be ordering in that month to get everything I need from bandai before they disappear) and four in December (Shana season 2 is counted as two items since the complete set is in two parts).

My manga and anime pre-order list are probably at the same level now with my figure pre-order count catching up rather quickly (although only two are due to be sent out this year).

Watched the last episodes of a couple of the summer series today ....

Moyashimon ... this was season two of the anime release. I do like Moyashimon with it's selection of quirky characters (if people haven't seen it then, at a high level, it's about a group of fermentation students one of whom can see, and communicate with, microbes). The stories are generally good fun and you do get some information on how various brewing and fermentation mistakes work at the microbe level. The problem with season 2 was that whilst it started off quite well the latter half of the series diverged and whilst it was it was ok it wasn't as good as some of the stuff which had come before. It's still a good watch but really only if you like the first season.

Natsuyuki Rendezvous ... this is a quite a strange little series. Basically it's about a chap who falls in love with a lady who owns a flower shop. So he gets a job there. The problem is that the other person who is there is the ghost of the woman's dead husband ... who doesn't like the idea of anyone else liking her (the guy can see the ghost; she can not). The series overall is a slow romantic story ... and at times it is very slow. It does also have quite a poor ending which leads you thinking "huh? what happened" (I did go back and re-watched the last 10mins as I thought I'd missed something). I can't recommend watching this series really ... it's not bad but there isn't really anything there to make it good.

Finished a re-watch of Listen to me girls, I'm your father last night. Wiki describes the plot as being:
Yūta Segawa is a university first year student who was looked after by his older sister, Yuri, but decided to live alone when Yuri got married. One day, Yūta is asked by Yuri and her husband to babysit their children, Sora, Miu and Hina Takanashi, while they go on a trip. However, during this time, the plane Yuri and her husband are riding crashes and they are both reported missing. In order to prevent the girls from being separated from each other, Yūta takes it upon himself to look after the girls in his small dormitory apartment. Thus begins Yūta's life of sharing his everyday life with three girls.
It's a fairly standard plot, variations of which we have seen many times before. As a series it's not bad, the characters are generally likable but the plot seems to be missing something and has a lack of depth which lets it down. As the light novel series is ongoing there isn't really an end as such to the anime leaving things open for more in the future. It's a reasonable watch but don't expect to much from it.

That might explain the call I got this morning from Mr Barclaycard, my Mastercard was apparently used yesterday in America in some art studio for £2, then for an O2 top up in the UK.

I hope that if it is them, they're not hurt too badly by it, as they are generally pretty good as a store.

I'll have to keep an eye on my Visa card as well, as I've used that with them recently (fortunately I never use my debit cards online, except to pay off my credit cards, so at least it's not "my" money at risk).
At least it means it's unlikely it's my machine that's been compromised (I've been running windows security on a full scan since about 9am this morning, it's just over 60% done, and reckons it's scanned something like 6.5 million file), I'm going to run Avast and Malwarebytes later just in case.

Well, watched the last episode of Hyouka earlier ... what to say about the series. It was a Spring 2012 series and a slightly short 2 cour series at 22 episodes. It was an interesting series; light mystery solving with four main characters from the classic literature club ... where the mysteries are pretty simple stuff but the characters are nice and the art work is good (it's a KyoAni series after all). The first OP is good too.

The series does have a few problems with pacing at times, the school festival was dragged out a bit too much, and some of the mysteries were rather trivial.

But overall it was an enjoyable series to watch and the last episode looked very nice.

I received an email from Anime online.

Dear Customer,

In the interests of improved security anime-on-line will shortly re-launch using the Card Save World Pay portal in order to attain the highest level of e-commerce security, 3D secure. Additionally we will be implementing a PayPal option.

These improvements however will mean the deletion of all established customer profiles and any outstanding orders, including part completed orders. Customers are only ever billed for goods physically shipped, so any part completed order would only have been billed for items you have received.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please take the time to re-establish your profile on the new and improved site and we hope to continue to be of service to you in the future.

Anime-on-Line

I'll probably place my orders with them again once the new site is up and running.

Hopefully they don't get clobbered to hard for it, technically if they are found to not be PCI-DSS compliant in their handling of card data then they can be held liable for the reissuing costs for all compromised cards ... and it's not that easy to be compliant as the requirements are very high level and one assessors stance on your implementation being compliant or not may not be the same as the next (I'm no expert but I can practically guarantee that members here's credit card info will have gone through one system I've consulted on in the past). Even if you haven't been compromised straight away then if your card is listed as being one which may have had it's information stolen then you should hear from your bank eventually (there is a requirement to report information on breaches to VISA, Mastercard, AMEX etc within tight timescales who should in turn contact the affected issuing banks).

Using a third party payment provider in the future like Paypal or WorldPay does limit their exposure and simplify things for them.

Well that might explain where my recent issue came from then. Me, my dad and my brother all got hit. I'm just trying to think if they (my brothers) used my dad's card, as we did suspect an online compromise as we'd all got hit at once, but use different PCs.

Rather annoyingly I found out last night that my secondary card also got hit.
I had to get my brother to send me some money via PP to pay for an auction I won last night.

I hope one or other of the replacements arrives by Saturday as I'm away this weekend and don't like carrying much cash.

I'm going to have to memorise my card numbers again - I could recite my old ones (including expiry, and CVV) from memory.

Came across this earlier :)
