The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Might be interested in getting Eureka Seven AO ... I've seen the OVA for Black Rock Shooter (I have the Japanese BD release) which was ok but I wasn't that impressed with the series.

FMA:B ... well if they hadn't messed around then they'd have got my money but in the end I picked up the US BD release at a large discount ...

Hmmmmm ... had something expensive hit customs earlier ... so how many weeks after Christmas is it going to take to get through ... :(

well they did finish the blu-ray release of FMB in the usa, so after seeing how it did there they change they mind for the uk.

I suspect it's more how well other UK anime Blu's are selling, iirc when FMA:B was being released it was selling only about 150 units in it's first week, and needed to sell something like 10x that many to have a chance of breaking even.

I would have bought the US release but at the time didn't have a multi region blu-ray player.

well the anime blu ray market has gotten better from when the first two volume of fmb was releases as i suspect most didn't know how well it transferr to blu ray and the fact that they wasn't many anime being released on blu ray.

Aye, iirc when it was released only a handful of anime titles were available in the UK on blu-ray, now it seems to be much more common, and the price of players has dropped from £100+ for the cheapest, to in some cases little more than a half decent DVD player (I ended up buying a Phillips blu-ray player when my DVD player died, as it was only about £10 more).

Is there some similar to Dragoball / Z, out there to watch?

It's the only cartoon/anime thing, that ive ever watched, probably best thing ive watched, just wondering if there something similar. Watched it over too many times over the years, so is getting a bit stale.

Not really into anime, just DBZ, so not clued up on this gayness.

DBZ is pretty much gayness, I don't even view it as Anime, it's a cartoon.

There is so much better out there.

Dont you dare say **** about DBZ, its fricking awesome. :)

Anyhow with that out of the way, what would you reccommend to a noobie, you know the type i like superpower, fighting, progression types. Also hopefully something longer than a series.

There is so many to list or try to think of, but I can help you be poking you to a really good website that most people use.

http://myanimelist.net/

From this site, if you type in DBZ, you will find what others recommend which is like DBZ and find others in the same class, click on the Anime, then click on Recommendations, you find Genres at the middle left of the page that you can click on and find more like you want to watch.

I'm actually guessing that they've only decided to go ahead with releasing the rest of it on blu-ray because the costs and minimum order requirement for blu-ray production have gone down.

i hoping for black lagoon season 1 & 2 on blu ray to be released in the uk.
They're already out, about £25 each from memory.

demonix, that could well be it, but iirc they've also sold tens of thousands of copies of some blu-ray titles now, so it could be a combination of the two :) (cheaper to do now, combined with a market that is much more strongly established for people to buy blu-rays of anime).

Re-watched Ano Natsu de Matteru over the last two evenings. Great little series which shares some staff with the Please! series' (and some concepts, at least, with Please Teacher!).

Really good characters and story which pull you in so you end up caring about what happens. The ending is cleverly done with you not seeing precisely if/how things are resolved but you see enough evidence to know what happens ... :)
