The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Re-watched Ano Natsu de Matteru over the last two evenings. Great little series which shares some staff with the Please! series' (and some concepts, at least, with Please Teacher!).

Really good characters and story which pull you in so you end up caring about what happens. The ending is cleverly done with you not seeing precisely if/how things are resolved but you see enough evidence to know what happens ... :)

Yeah, i really liked that they break from the norm and they get together at least 2 episodes before the end and not what usually happens of the last second of the last epsiode (sometime not even until after the credits roll)

(from memory so check you listings)

Film4 30th December 16:55 Arrietty
Film4 3rd January 11:00 Arrietty

According to my listing the former is dubbed but the latter is subbed ...

Having seen that Arrietty is on, I may either tune into it, or put my copy in the player :)
I quite liked it :)

I got a little bit of a surprise this morning, my copy of Persona 4 set 1 has shipped from Amazon to arrive tomorrow:eek: (whether it does or not is another matter), I'd totally got the release date wrong in my mind, as being in February/March (I think that's the second set:p).

With post as it is at the moment I wouldn't hold any form of breath ... my A Certain Magical Index part 1 and 2 should arrive at my office post room tomorrow (normally delivery timescales would have meant they got there last Friday as they shipped Wednesday) ... unfortunately I'm not back in the office until 3rd Jan :(

At least (1) I was red carded on Friday so that should be the last couple of CDs I'm waiting for from Japan (touch wood as they are over due) and (2) my expensive shipment has cleared Customs (with a charge) so I may be able to wangle getting it before the New Year (assuming I ring up and pay on Thursday).

You did get the release dates for box 1 and 2 mixed up, and it's unlikely that it would be delivered today since it took two days for a figure that was shipped on Thursday to get from Kent to me on the other side of London.

And Amazon dragging their feet on pre-orders is why I'm never using them for pre-ordering items.

Looks like there's going to be a nice boxset of music from K-ON! released in Japan in March ...

CD box set release from anime series "K-ON! (Keion!)" featuring its intro, outro themes, insert songs, character songs, and BGMs for over 200 tracks total. Also includes 19 songs from PSP game "K-ON! Hokago Live!!," which are released on CD for the first time (subject to change). Consists of 12 discs (subject to change) and a description booklet (subject to change) in 12-inch box.

The downside .... £137 + shipping

Urrrrgh ... £42.09 in fees :(

Is that the customs fees on the CD set, or the shipping fees?

On a slightly different note, I started watching Dojin Works (I got the bundle from TRSI with the manga and the DVD's a few weeks back), which I'm enjoying, it's a slightly different take on the Comic Party/Genshiken theme (talking of which, I got the first couple of Genshiken Omnibus editions the other day :D)), with the main character trying to do an 18+ dojin to make money, and seemingly learning to not be embarrassed by it, whilst getting involved in various related stuff.
I'm only up to episode 4 or 5 at the moment though.

The various Customs charges (inc Parcel Forces' fee) ... I'm surprised they didn't charge me some form of rental as well given the length of time between the package hitting the UK and it actually getting to the point where I could pay the duty etc ...

I didn't really get on with Doujin Works when I gave it a look. I like Genshiken and Comic Party but this series just didn't do anything for me. Another series in the genre which is worth a look is Bakuman (if Media Blasters ever manages to release even one series of it ...)

Been watching Ano Natsu de Matteru myself this week as it got quite a few good mentions recently and I'd been meaning to watch it for a while.

I can see why it's gone down nicely with the rom-com/drama crowd, as so far (Im on episode 9) its actually quite a nicely put together series that actually seems to offer some progression. It also seems to offer a little more depth in the character relationships/romantic trails than the average harem story, with not just the main character chasing or being chased.

Nicely surprised, I'll have to get through more of my dramas soon! 8/10 so far, perhaps 8.5 even 9, there's not much wrong with it for what it is really.

Got Netflix working on my Kindle too (borrowed my brother's sub); now as far as I know that's actually meant to have a semi-decent anime library although not really looked through it yet.

Had you seen Please Teacher prior to arching Ano Natsu? ... Unofficially it could be speculated as giving another interesting dimension to the newer series (although they are not officially linked it could be taken as they are for reasons which become obvious if you have seen them both ...)

Watched Heavens Memo Pad on BD yesterday ... Good interesting series with nice characters and good stories. It was still a bit shocking 2/3 of the way through even one re-watch :(. Would be nice if there was another series.

No, I haven't, so I have been watching this series completely standalone. I know they're by some of the same people but that's as far as my knowledge of the several Please! shows goes.
Feel free to explain in spoiler tags :)

Well ...

As you know the main character in Ano Natsu is looking for a place which she "remembers" despite never having been there.

The main character in Please Teacher also comes to Earth in the same sort of way (with a nigh on identical side kick creature/organic ship interface) and where she goes to looks like it could be the same place the character is looking for in the new series. Her cover on Earth is that as a school teacher and she falls in love with one of her students (who is actually older than everyone thinks (due to medical reasons)). There was a lot of speculation when the show was airing that the main female character in the new series could be a descendent of this character.

Also Remon is extremely similar to Ichigo in Please Teacher! who suffered from the same medical condition as the main male character in that series which affected their aging why would make it possible for her to be the same person who has assumed another identity to hide her lack of aging.
Finished watching Onii-chan Dakeko Ai Sae Areba Kankei Nai yo ne this morning. As a series I would say it is poor overall ... the usual sort of thing which has obviously been written by someone who doesn't have a little sister themselves. The characters were generally stereotypical of the genre and were just not very likeable. The plot, such that it was, was rather lacking and not very interesting.

Interesting stuff :)
Could be linked but unless they ever tell us, it doesn't really matter. Having finished the show I think it wraps up nicely and does a good job by itself. 8-9/10 material.

Not only do you care about more than one of the characters, it doesn't dally and actually gets going; plus a nice heavily hinted ending :)
