The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

United Publications still has the Complete Blu-ray Collection listed as a pre-order for June, but I'm guessing that's just an incorrect listing that hasn't been updated yet :( was going to jump for joy for a minute there.

They haven't updated the list yet, but they are a bit slow at times in regard to updating the lists.

Aye, I've ordered the half collection set, and will do the same for the second set when it comes up :)

It only works out £6 more than the complete set I had ordered, so it's not bad :)

Re-watched a couple of things this weekend ...

Usagi Drop ... a great slice of life series which whilst it doesn't cover the entire manga cover the best of it.

AnoHana ... great series which looks wonderful and is immensely emotional at times.

Usagi Drop was a great series, really hope it gets a second season.

I did hear that the Manga version was a lot better since it went to the forbidden zone. xD

Actually the manga goes down hill quite a bit after what was made into the anime. Volume 8 came out last week in English and I read it yesterday. I think I know what you are expecting by forbidden zone but you'd be very disappointed and the series is becoming very slow and generic.

(note the anime covers the first 4 volumes of the manga)

edit:

Note if anyone has ordered Sentai's BD release of Kids on the Slope (good series btw) then TRSI are reporting on Facebook that it's been recalled by Sentai due to mono audio on one of the episodes.

Ah really? I don't read Manga, I try too but black and white pictures are just too boring for me if they was in colour it would be more pleasing to read.

I guess it was a doujinshi that I heard about that went to that place. :p

I read that Kodomo no Jikan manga just ended with a semi-decent ending which made a lot of people rage. Be nice if they made more Anime from the Manga.

Some are saying that it's about time sentai did something after several BD releases have had audio issues identical to those on KotS (except for K-On!! which has one episode on the first part that has loud and muffled audio on the Japanese side), and the bug is also on the Australian BD which is likely going to impact the UK release if the BD has to be re-authored.

Just watched the K-on movie on DVD,English dub
Must say I was pleasantly surprised that the songs were all in Japanese when sung and it `sounded` to my ears anyway better than the first seasons attempts
So a cautious 8/10 from me :D

Well I have seen/heard worse dubs
Please Twins English dub...Shudders in remembrance...:(
Have already seen it in Japanese so wanted to check it out in English;)
Will check out the extras disc tomorrow.and check for aural damage:D

I admit that that sort of thing makes me avoid doujinshi generally. I'm all for the idea of doujinshi but the amount of poorly drawn, perverted, **** that tends to be produced(*) means it's just to much like hard work to get it ... particularly when you can't look at it before buying to weed out the dross. I have better things to do with both my time and my money.

In fact I have even walked out of at least one shop in Japan due to some of the doujinshi content on display, (I still know the shop as it is quite large and acts as a navigational point for me in Osaka). Other shops with mixed items for sale I just ignore that section.

(*) yes I know it is not all like that but the signal to noise ratio is just too high.

Hopefully my BD copy should ship today so I'll get it Friday ready for the weekend.

Argh! ... just had to settle a £36 customs bill with Parcel Force ... not unexpected of course but still :(

I watched Evangelion 3.33 last night,

what a confusing mess that’s soooooooooooooooooooooo pretentious, very disappointing compared to 1.11 and 2.22.
Same. Very disappointing and pretentious, I know people said that about the EoE movie and the ending of the TV series but this is entirely different IMO.

I only watched 1.11 and 2.22 for the first time last year and really enjoyed them. I felt the direction they were taking the 2nd movie in was really quite interesting, but there's no excuse for what they did with 3.0.

I tried my best to see it from a different perspective and leave my old Eva fanboyism behind, but all you're left with is a complete mess of a movie that goes out of its way to stick a finger up to the original fans of Eva by making a mockery of the original characters.

I mean you've only got to look at the new pilot they introduced in the 2nd movie, I've completely forgotten her name. There was no explanation, no background story, just a typical unrealistic shallow rom-com style anime character whose personality and dialogue have absolutely no relation to the events going on around her. I ignored this in the 2nd movie because I didn't think it was necessarily relevant to the plot at that point, more like a curiosity to expand the third movie. But to go with an entire new movie and STILL not give us anything about her other than a sense she's in the wrong anime, it's just down right bad movie making... but so much to the point you know that's what the director intended.

It's pretentious and whiff's entirely of the director being so far up his own backside. I will eat my hat if he manages to pull something out of this mess, but I can see the fourth movie as being simply more of the same. It's a shame, cause 1.11 and 2.22 are stunning on Bluray D:

I thought she was in the original Manga and was cut out of the original TV series?

The manga was written by the character designer Sadamoto not the original writer and director Anno.

It was kinda his own take on the story, but as far as I know the new girl wasn't in the manga? Although I did read it when it was still being published so she might have been introduced later on.

Even so, it still stands that her complete lack of characterisation in the new movies is abysmal, and what little we did get leaves me not wanting to know more. It think they added her to sell more figurines or something :/

Well at least MVM have announced that their release won't have the audio issue (on twitter/facebook).
