The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Will a single GTX970 work with this monitor? Also the card I have has miniDP connections (and 1 HDMI). Will I be able to connect to the monitor.

Yes it'll work, you might have to lower some settings to get high FPS though depending on the titles played.

As for connections, it requires a full sized DisplayPort connection, so you'll need either a MiniDP to DP cable or an adapter that does the same.

Depends how fussy you are about framerates - you'll get playable fps without turning too much down but you won't be holding 60+fps in some newer titles.

There isn't a lot that really troubles my 780 (unless the settings push VRAM use over 3GB at that res) albeit I'm running it clocked to pretty much stock GTX980 performance.

Thankyou. That's very helpful. While my heart says yes about this monitor, I think my head is going to have to over-rule it. At £600 plus that is more than half the cost of the PC I'm getting. I think I will have to stick with a standard 27" 60hz machine for now and wait for deflation to occur in the country and pick it up when the price falls :)

My 980 can be pushing out 45 fps depending on what game, and while G-Sync does a great job at those frame rates you're probably making the right choice in ruling this monitor out for your card.

I mean, if our hardware could push out 120fps consistently then why would we need G-Sync?... but there's obviously a limit to how low the fps can dip and still remain acceptable.

You also have to factor in the 970 vRam issues at that resolution.

Has anyone gone to one of these from a DGM IPS-2701WPH? - I've got money burning a hole in my pocket and looking into getting a G-Sync monitor.

im thinking of upgrading to this monitor from a SA850T, my pc specs are in my sig

im only concerned about image quality, as its a big deal to me not been a huge fps player

970s could struggle with RAM at 1440, and as far as IQ goes it's a 144hz TN panel so I'm thinking it's geared towards fps more than IQ.

Definitely not a panel to upgrade to for image quality - its OK even good for a TN but end of the day its a TN, several compromises have been made for performance that can do bad things to whites and in some cases result in colour banding in certain scenarios.

Bought this monitor the other day for £530 used (like new). Maybe I got lucky but there are no faults with this monitor, only slight damage to the box. I'm still using a GTX 670 but even below 60fps the games seem much smoother than before. No stuttering/tearing is amazing.

Still can't quite touch the swift for gaming but **** those are some impressive gaming related performance figures for an IPS panel. Still would have to see one in the flesh to see if the tracking of objects in motion has the clarity of a good TN though.

So, any fellow swift owners considering selling theirs now the Acer IPS 144hz gsync has shown itself to be rather tasty? http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/acer_xb270hu.htm

I'm contemplating it, before prices on the swift start to tank, and then pick up a 34 inch superwide ips or VA 144 Hz gsync monitor later in the year, which is bound to happen now. Thoughts?

What we expecting the Swifts to tank to, £450? £500?
