The Asus X99 Deluxe Owners Thread

AIDA64 Haswell-E update (from ROG Forum)

Thank you for the feedback. We've finally been able to identify the root cause of the slowdowns. So hopefully, the following new beta update for AIDA64 will fix every remaining issues about Haswell-E:

Please let me know how it works on your system.

Thank you for your time.

Well, hit the soundcard problem as well which is super annoying - To a point where I want to get another X99 board. This onboard sound is pure trash.

Also, when overclocking, the second I use ANY sort of offset voltage, + or - Windows will just freeze upon loading.

Basically, they don't work. Has been reported a few times, even in this thread I think.

I got the Xonar Essence STX and there's no sound coming out. Drivers install fine and everything but there's no sound coming out.

Not sure how widespread it is, some said all seperate sound cards, others mentioned it was sporadic. However I'm forced to use onboard for now, which is a damn shame.

Had exactly the same problem with my X99-S. Spent a day trying to install them and in the end gave up. Have since sold the Xonar and bought a dac / amp.

Weird, hopefully we can get done clarification on this soon and it gets sorted.

Also Sethos, you got any idea what the clearance is like with 2 reference 780's and the essence? If you don't, that's cool

Running two Titans myself and it should fit, however it will be snug

Looking around, the soundcard issue might not be exclusive to Asus. I saw a post over on EVGA with people reporting the same problem.

Someone mentioned they had luck changing the PCI Gen on the port used by the soundcard, to either 1 or 2. I tried both but still doesn't work. Also tried hacked drivers to see if they made a difference, which they didn't.

On the RVE, putting the PC to sleep and waking it up again brings the STX to life - I'd be surprised if the same workaround does not work on the Deluxe.

Note - make sure the STX is the default sound device in windows if you have on-board enabled as windows always seems to default back to the on-board every reboot if both are enabled.

It looks more like a X99/Xonar driver problem than a board problem at this point.

I tried the hacked UNi Xonar drivers, same result. So the fact that it can be solved by hibernation, sounds like it's a firmware issue on Asus' end.

Sorry guys if this is too much of a thread derailment - if it is let me know and I'll post separately!

I'm really vacillating over using this mobo for my upcoming x99 build. One one hand, I love the colour scheme and the features and included bits are excellent, but ideally I'd like eATX for a bit more expansion and I have seen a few reports of blown arms sometimes even taking out the cpu with them. But yes, I do know that these are mass produced and QC will never be 100%

How reliable have your boards been?

mine has been fine since latest bios, I had temp errors but all ok now and very happy

Okay, apparently sleep and hibernation will fix the soundcard issue. Just put it into sleep, wake it up straight away and the soundcard works. Should work with the R5E as well. However this needs to be done after every cold boot, until a better solution is found.
