I don't remember him refusing to take a pen for Chelsea earlier in the year. He did take pens at Atletico though but the opportunity to take them when he was at Liverpool never materialised.

There we go, maybe if he had dispatched that nicely he'd of got to take one in the final.

That was while his confidence was low, however his confidence was much improved by the time of the Champs League final due to getting a few goals recently.

Mata's penalty was dire, I don't mind players not scoring penalties if they atleast make the goalkeeper work, was by far the easiest penalty that Neuer will ever have to save. Would have preferred to see Torres step up and have a go instead.

I don't think his refusal was to do with a lack of confidence, if anything it showed good self-confidence to me. Basically he was saying "I don't need your ****ing charity, pens should be taken by the allotted penalty taker (take note Drogba)"

Mario's been at it again :p

Mario Balotelli has warned he will walk off the pitch if he is racially abused while playing for Italy in Euro 2012.

The Manchester City striker was the victim of racism from the crowd during his time playing in Italy.

Balotelli insists he will not tolerate it in Poland and Ukraine amid fears problems may surface during the European Championships.

"If someone throws a banana at me in the street, I will go to prison because I will kill him. Racism is unacceptable to me, I cannot bear it," he said.

"I hope there will not be a problem at the Euros because if it does happen I would straight away leave the pitch and go home. We are in 2012, it can't happen."

Balotelli also declared himself a genius and insisted he is misunderstood by others.

"I think I am a genius, but not a rebel," he added. "I have my life, my world, I do what I want, without annoying anyone. I believe I am more intelligent than the average person.

"The talent God gave me is beautiful and wonderful, but it is difficult because you are always facing other people keen to judge you.

"There are few people with such talent, so there are few able to judge what I am doing."

Bad news for the Euros

"Frank Lampard pulls up in England training with a thigh injury. He will have a scan and Jordan Henderson put on stand-by."

Jordan Henderson... really? Do we really have no other options?

And how do we not have a Euros thread yet :p
