The Battlefield 4 Thread 2015

I still can't get use to these spread changes though, I'm just not getting kills the same way I use to :(

Yeh guns are more situational now. You can't really go toe toe with a SAR 21 at range with the ACWR for instance. I find myself switching up guns more than I used to.

Even with the HMG and AA, I am having a hard time killing enemies across the map. By the time I hit them and then pause to stop the spread, they will have ran into cover...

Esp with the F(*&*&^*&^ MBT LAW spammers. These (&(^*&^^&)* are seriously making me rage at the moment.

Or the LAV with APSFDS-T shells. Used to be able snipe infantry from quite far. Now you have to shoot real slow to keep the spread down. Also the damage has been reduced so it takes way more shots to kill. Used to be 2 shots, and 1 was enough to get an "assist counts as kill". Now you need 3-5 shots I'd say.

Not liking the LAV as much as I used to.

Yeh it feels weak in comparison to the tank. I find you really need headshots on infy now with APSFDS-T shells which is stupid. Have you switched?

Yup LAV is utterly useless now. Was never that keen on it before but now there is no point using it.

And to think that DICE will be most likely nerfing the tank next *sigh*

Why do they change stuff when there is no need to?! If anything needs addressed regarding vehicles then it is the amount of vehicles for some maps!

May be by design that you can no longer snipe across the map with the HMG and AA.

It sucks so badly :( Nothing more satisfying that sniping a sniper across the map (well except for shooting aircraft down!)

It's 3 shots in the body for the APSFDS-T shells, 2 in the head though I think.

I'm loving the LAV more than ever, happy to take it instead of a tank. It's harder to get critical hits on tanks/lavs/boats with the TOW now though.

Plus the speed of the TOW is so good, I'd say it's almost on a par with the pre-patch Sraw, minus the range. Shooting down air vehicles is almost too easy with it now.

When me and Patsy go in LAV we seat switch (him with zunis and AP, me with TOW and smoke), the other LAVs look very confused, they see the zunis, rush to engage and then eat some TOW. :D

Have they bumped up the speed (rate of fire and movement) on the LAV's TOW? but increased its reload time?

I jumped in one in desperation last night and owned a tank not expecting to be able to hit it so fast and so frequently. But then was screwed due to not expecting it to take so long to reload as I was used to.

EDIT: Find myself increasingly playing assault with L85A2 (Holo, no acc, heavy barrel, ergo), G18 (Mini RDS, tactical light, muzzle brake [yup]) along with defib and medic bag - most of my other setups seem to be have been messed up a bit with recent changes compared to playing a year ago.

Not for the infy that get repeatedly killed by something they couldn't do anything about... especially across the map :p Was fun though... but appealing to the lowest common denominator is order of the day.

Does the seat switching allow you to avoid cooldown? If so that's evil and needs patching, but while it's there I guess if it can be exploited you would be mad not to.

I still like the LAV, but hate being in it on my own as the gunner is even more important given the impotence of the main gun against infantry (mostly the reload times and amount of ammo).
TOWs are ace and I always use them over zunis now as it allows a longer engagement distance. Even I've had a couple of helis with it recently. The only problem with the TOW is the aim ceiling.

The gunner's seat is a good place to be with a good driver and FLIR as the driver is less likely to be stealing the kills.

Yeah the speed of the missile is faster since last patch, but like you said a slight decrease in reload time. With it being so fast, it's slightly harder to control now in terms of small adjustments (that you could do with the Sraw for example). But since it's so fast, you don't have to adjust it that much, providing that you're leading/following the target enough.

Yeah being gunner in the LAV is quite good tbh, think haz was driving the lav on haianan and I was gunning, we did pretty well iirc!

Of course they can do something about it.... don't camp/head-glitch across the map! :p :D

I wouldn't say it's evil :D I mean, heli pilots and gunners have been doing that for years, with extinguisher, seat switching in mid-air. But yeah it avoids cooldown, we mostly use it for the damage advantage. Usually I'll hit the vehicle at long range, switch seat and Pat will rush in with zunis and finish it. Or if we're getting rushed, Pat will fire off zunis, then switch to reps while I fire off the TOWs. Using smoke as the gunner also helps while getting spammed by locks.

A lot of people don't realize that you can also do it in the tank. It's a good idea if the tank gunner takes HE shell, since this also avoids cool down, so when the driver is out of AP shells, just jump out and rep while the gunner fires off a fresh batch of HE shells :D

Wow xin, I never knew this. Can you double APS this way?

Sadly no, but your gunner could use extinguisher before firing off some HE shells, while you rep. In those close engagements when you have no AP shells left and you're down to 10/20 health, it could give you the upper hand. Also the HE shells will do a bit more damage than the AP to finish the job.

I use sabot :D But that's a good point. Fire extinguisher would help in the really close battles.
