***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Man do I feel dirty. I just built an AMD FX-8350 and CF 7950's for a friend on a new build. I did tell him to hold off from his i5 2500K and single 7950 but he was clear he wanted to upgrade and I guess the 8350 isn't that bad?

I have told him to let me know how BF4 plays on that CPU compared to his 2500K. It has worked out a treat for me, he had an old 6970 HIS and I have bought his MOBO and CPU off him as well as that to upgrade the wifes computer. Hopefully the 6970 still has some grunt and I look forward to seeing how it copes :)

Nice little purchase Greg. If i can ever be bothered to download it, i might try the beta on my old i7 930 gtx 650 setup.

For BF4 the FX-8350 is just as good if not a little better than the i5.

Its just not good for MMO's like Arma and PS2.

He is like me and plays mainly BF3 and will be glued to BF4. I do know he loves WoW though, so hopefully no probs there. I tried to talk him into an I7 but he is a big AMD fan and I don't knock his choices.

It is replacing an E chip and an 8800GT, so should be night and day :) Mrs doesn't care but I have convinced her she needs an upgrade for Facebook :D

AMD guys should definitely use the 13.11 drivers. Game is feeling superb now, no fps increases though.

I will tell him.

I said about ULPS disabling for CF but to be honest, he has tons of updates on Windows 7 before he can get to use it (on rubbish 3meg BB, so I wasn't waiting around) but anything else I need to tell him for CF?

In WoW he will definitely have been better off with an i5, but the will still get 60+ FPS with it.

I hope that's not a euphemism. :o

No comment. :p

ULPS is optional. Performance gain with it off is 0-5%. I'd leave it on and see what he says. I'm running with it on atm as i like the fact it turns the second gpu off completely when not gaming and the performance hit is very small at stock with it on. When im overclocking and not running at stock, off it goes though. Crossfire and frame pacing are turned on by default when you install 13.11 so it should be easy sailing. Just make sure you have all the net frameworks installed or updated via windows update before you install the drivers. (4.0/4.5)

First game today since the update, playing at 2560x1600, windows 8.0, full ultra settings and beta drivers, cpu at stock, graphics cards at 1150 on core 6800 on memory, 64 man conquest and I get;

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
149485, 1798828, 5 :(, 154, 83.101

Cheers and told him he will need the MS 4.0 frameworks or he will not be playing.

I made him get 13.10 but if 13.11 are good, I will let him know tomorrow.

Just benched a full round post patch, everything set to ultra, 4xMSAA, no post AA, 5900*1080.

Min 22 | Max 86 | Avg 54.811

780x2, [email protected] GPU usage was fluctuating between 70-99%, CPU usage maxed at 93% on one of the threads and got up to 62C on one of the cores (H100 cooling) but the rest stayed below 60C. In summary still seems to be performing well for me.

13.11 is newer. Always pays to stay up to date with AMD. They rarely produce a bad driver so it pays to update ASAP imo, especially being a crossfire user.

Don't forget net framework 4.5 as well. ;)

I am sure he will get it. I was more concerned about CF, as that is the first time I have built a CF system but it recognised CF after reseating the bridge for a 2nd time.

I just wanted to make sure that nothing else needed doing cheers.
