***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Surprised you are not getting more than that. That is about what i am getting with my two 670's at 1080p only being used 65-85% (GPU usage) due to my i5 2500k bottlenecking.

Are both your 7950s being used 100%? if so , i would expect more from two 7950's clocked like yours are.

I think you might be under estimating how tough 1440p is Jono. 1080p is a cakewalk. :p

Conquest 64, 1080P, Ultra Preset+x4AA, FOV82.

EDIT

Using 13.11 drivers.

Using 13.11 drivers.

Slightly off topic but would I be correct in thinking that if your unstable at 1150/1500, you can drop the GPU clock to 1145 to counter the instability and allowing the mem to run at 1500?

Does that make sence?

If the core is unstable lower that, likewise for mem. Not much point clocking 7950 memory too much further than 1575 imo as it doesn't have the core grunt to make use of it.

Gonna run another round of CQ64 at 1440p and see if there's any fps differences.

I was almost dissapointed at how well BF4 runs on my 7970. Was hoping to have justification to upgrade :(
At 1920*1200, all ultra settings except for AA it runs smooth as butter, no worse than BF3. Shows around 50 to 60 average, dipping now and then to 30.
This is on i7 920 @3.8Ghz

I guess I could buy another 2 monitors for eyefinity, which would give me the requirement of replaceing with a R290X or another 7970 for CF.

I imagine that i7 is bottlenecking at that speed and adding another for CF would not improve frames to anything noticable or substantial. Try overclocking the CPU more and I am sure you will see those averages with 4xMSAA get close to what you are seeing without AA.

I actually even if the beta is a bit fiddle believe that the 64bit will allow a better fps for gamers without going overboard with hardware. especially with Mantle.
some say 1080 is cakewalk, I disagree, 120fps minimum is what I want to see and for that you need some top end hardware still.
december and mantle cant come fast enough.

my 7970 still runs my set up fine with Bf4.

I'd take an educated guess from what I'v seen so far and say your bloomfield CPU would need to be at least 4Ghz, maybe 4.2 to remove a bottlneck. What's your GPU usage like, Andy?

Edit: lol flopper 120FPS minimum! That's a bit of a tall order :D

I'll check CPU usage tonight, but my previous experiments were with Metro 2033. Upping vcore to allow 4Ghz+ didn't give me any more FPS, as was GPU limited. I have had a 4820k & Gigabyte UD3 in my Overclockers basket for a few days now!!, just feel overall another 7970 for £230ish would give me loads more than a change of CPU/motherboard for £500.
Will have to read back through this thread again to see if there's a proper benchmark utility/method for BF4

Battlefield 4 beta patch 2 will include performance improvements for Windows 7, more

A second patch is going out for the Battlefield 4 beta sometime between now and the impending end date, and will contain performance improvements for GPUs, as well as Windows 7.

Many players have noticed Windows 8 / DirectX 11.1 performance with the game is far better than Windows 7 DirectX 11 right now, so that's very good news.

Still, Frostbite technical director Johan Anderrson says Win8 is the best way to go until the Mantle update in December.

So whats the definitive position on HT vs non HT.

For example, big difference between the 3570k and the 3770k in BF4?

I'm wondering if it might be time now to upgrade my sysyem for next gen games.

Currently running:

3570k, 670, 8gb ram and Win 7.
