***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

What kind of fps are you getting Matt. Dead space isn't very demanding iirc.
I have the game, but my HDD just died and I haven't played it since xbox tbh...

Not played much of it so far, just a bit of the first level but ive enabled x8 High Quality Supersampling, MLAA and anisotropic filtering. With vsync on it seemed to be between 60-50 fps. The supersampling is definitely working as i can notice the performance hit and the graphics improved ten fold. If the second gpu's usage went up above 50% im fairly sure fps would never drop below 60 as its there pretty much constantly. This is at stock clocks (925/1250) and with ULPS on.

Do you even notice it going below 60 without a frame counter?
I've found that it doesn't matter much with these 3rd person games to my eyes.

Still, a problem to be solved is a problem to be solved :)

No and actually i think it doesn't dip below 60 so i should probably just forget it, but you know me. :p

I took vsync off and fps went up by about 15, so super sampling is definitely working but the second gpu usage won't go above 50%. It would be easier to ignore but i can see it on the overlay. :D

No microstutter at all either, this is without frame pacing as its an old dx9 game. For some reason ive never encountered microstutter on a dx9 game, only on dx11.

I'll forget about it now and start playing. Already crapped my pants when the first alien jumped out at me. :D

None of which has any reference to a representative slice of gameplay? As I said, I would trust Gregster to capture this as he's not exactly a newb (well he is at BF4 but that's a different story :p).

I just think you're just too bothered about being right or wrong. There is a grey area still :).

It is definitely a grey area. There are so many factors to consider especially considering it's a beta. I have gone a few rounds where the minimum dip was 48FPS on a single card. But when a tank explodes infront of you, a helicopter is coming down and the sky scraper is collaping the GPU is going to have a pretty rough time. It's nothing to be sniffed at though :D

oic, yeh crossfire for u makes some sense huh
im using a sony w6 42inch, very different screen :)
still considering what i would like as a 2nd screen

but using my laptop as one kind of works good for now, and i dont sit up at a desk so

i want 1 card that will last me a while :o

42inch? Blimey.

Tempted by a 290X?

yeh i dont sit that close, i love the screen, bright nice colors and pretty small for a 42inch :) hope they do a 4k one thats exactly the same, the style i mean

but yeh a 290 or 290x depending, it was going to be a 780, my only previous experience with nvidia being a 690 but thats not my own pc just borrowed
i know i dont NEED a 290x on my screen right now but its deciding on my second screen, i like smaller and faster screen when fps but i also played on a 29inch and i like that

i dont think any single card will do a game like this at 120hz, i think i would be disapointed, maybe on medium settings or something with good cpu

the thing that puts me off the fast screens is the big dips, playing 60fps if it dips to 50 you dont feel it so much, dips from 130 to 80 or something you feel it bad
i think i want a screen i can swivel for when using it as the 2nd screen, you can get 29inch that do that now but i think it would look kind of crazy, and id get a sore neck looking up and down it lol :p

Don't get the monitor i have then. The stand is crap. Luckily i never move it, aside from when it gets polished. :D

you dont see many gaming aim screens that are glossy, i think samsung was last i see the 120hz one, which wasnt cheap
its hard for me to go back to non glossy after this sony :(

anyway back on topic, 29inch might been able do them settings at 60fps :)
is it 20% less pixels?

Mine is glossy. Its a preference thing but i really like glossy. The side effect is if you take a picture of your monitor with a camera flash you appear in the reflection. At this point Mei id like to make an official statement that at no time with this glossy monitor did i take an inappropriate picture of any parts of my body, small hands or otherwise. Ahem.

Depends on the resolution of the screen. What res is your 42 inch? 29 inch will likely be 2560x1080 i think. Though im not really familiar with 29 inch screens.

o no you forgot to put trousers on
everything looks so much nicer on glossy but maybe not that!

yeh its 1920 x 1080 but i meant they normally calculate it roughly as 29inch pushes 20% more frames than what you use, as no one owns one haha
