***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Hell why not - I game for a laugh :D

Will try to sort this week

Once I've re homed my Titans

Cool beans.

I might have to run at 1080p as ill probably record straight from the pc. My monitor is glossy so if i record using the camera all you'll see is me in the reflection. I also like to game naked so that won't be happening. :p

Ah come on man im only messing, you should know that. ;)

She did do well. Fair play to her for agreeing to stand there and do it. :)

As for the fps, 3:33 and 4:44. I've got eagle eyes. :D A couple of others as well but those were the lowest. Not bad, but as i said none of those situations i originally referred to which you took offence at.

In truth, it isn't the best gameplay vid because you can't really see what is going on but at the start, the tower was coming down and I flew round the corner to try and get it on film and just caught the end of it where the smoke and dust all plumes up and as you know, this makes the rest of the round look poor visually.

It does give peeps a rough Idea and I noticed it drop to 54 at 3:33, so your statement about dropping under 57 fps in all situations was correct and even with Trisli GPU's, it seems that these drops can't be avoided in the Beta. Maybe the full release will be better but as far as comparing this to BF3, I don't see much more demand required.

Textures possibly missing? Not full ultra being applied yet? Pass but for me, gameplay is good. I much prefer the 32 man domination and none of that crappy dust/smoke when the tower comes down and quick action shooting is needed and less snipers.

I'll drink to that Greg. Good vid though man and you'll be able to laugh at me and my fps drops when i do mine. :D

Thanks for that lovely image that you've just put in my head -

Pen and paper at the ready and super slo mo will be used :D

Don't worry i won't put you through that. I got eye strain i was staring at your video so hard. :p

I'll run fraps benchmark at the same time as well as the built in game fps.

Probably not a good time to tell you i also sit in a leather chair.

? To the built in bit

Stick this in your user.cfg in the BF4 folder.

PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1
PerfOverlay.Enable 1
PerfOverlay.DrawGraph 1

I'll have the performance overlay and the fps counter running all in different corners. You'll see, live and feel every cpu spike and fps drop as if you were there with me. :D

Thank you O wise one

Played a bit of BF3 tonight, first time since trying BF4 and blimey it feels so smoooth compared to the BF4 I have been enduring .... Does not quite look as good though tbh so BF4 it is a step forward - really loving the visuals and aural on the explosions in BF4 !! :)

Anyway, went back to BF4 and set it to low, medium & high (as opposed to Ultra) .. twas very smooth with little FPS difference, it was reactive and enjoyable. The fps was still dropping into the high 30s as it was on Ultra but without impacting my perception whereas on Ultra setting I really felt the slow down so what's that about ... memory (12GB system Ram, 3GB Vram) or CPU ?

Have considered the above and noted that my CPU (920 @ 4.2) is in the 90% usage range mostly and also when my 7990/7970 GPUs hit 40% usage so I have reconciled that after 4 years it is time to move on - my daughter gets the i7 920 innards (to play Roblox!) to replace her Athlon II 640 system, she'll be happy :D

Have bitten the bullet and ordered up a 4930k setup ... here's hoping it will last 4 years like its predecessor!

I forgot that afterburner does not work with the BF4 Beta as its not a 64bit application. Not sure how im going to record some gameplay without taking a significant fps hit. At least with afterburner you could use a different codec to reduce the strain.

Any suggestions? All i can think of is fraps but that takes up loads of space for a video when i only have 35 gigs of space free. Not to mention the performance hit from it is massive i think.

Just tried recording with fraps using these settings, but it seems to lock the frame rate down to 60 while playing. Anyway to get an unlimited frame rate?

For those of you trying to capture video who want something decent open source and fast I would recommend Open Broadcasting Software, if you have an Intel chip you could also use quickysync to take a load of the cpu / gpu without any hinderence on gameplay.

Frames, Time, Min, Max, Avg,
49649, 848389, 31, 107, 58.588

Not very impressive at all, get W8 it'll probably help. Which GPU drivers are you using?

13.11 drivers.
I disagree.. Its a 2 year old PC, with a £250 quid, year old gfx card playing a game that isn't even out yet on full settings with avg 60 fps.
I'm very happy- especially having read all this 'i5 is a bottleneck' chat. Plus I have a bit of room on both the cpu and gfx for overclocking.. plus mantle. Jobs a good 'un.
