200% 1440p:

1440 150% (4k sample)

Both with no AA.

NP, I just tried it with 32x CSAA too (forced via nvcp), didn't appear to change much of anything, from frame rates to IQ.

Also is there a quick way to render screenshot or do I have to manually type it in everytime?

Its ok I'll manage away with typing it as it gives a lossless png file :)

What point were you spawning at Matt? Couldn't seem to spawn (at least looking in the same direction as you) where you are. So spawned at Point A and here are some IQ comparisons at 200%...some IQ may have been lost moving it from an 8mb PNG to a
~1.5mb jpeg

All are 1080 200% (4K sample)

No AA:

And what happens when you run out of Vram...

VRAMLIMITHIT.jpg

Looks stunning that frosty, how do I get the sexy green text at the top? Always thought it was a Mantle thing...

Really small point, but remember that a 290 stock is 947/1250, the clocks you've given as stock are your stock factory-OC clocks. So compared to 'absolute' stock it's a 5.6% OC.

I know someone said it had been proven, but to get an idea how the scaling affects VRAM usage, etc. could someone at 1440p run at 720p and 200% scaling?

Done both at ultra

1440p 100% = 2085mb

720p 200% = 1945mb

Mate, set a custom resolution in the NV control panel. I'm not running out of VRAM over three cards. Well, I say I'm not, it's not turning into a slide show.

Its already running the 1440 from NVCP then upscaled further via BF4 which may be why...either way the highest resolution I can get from NVCP downsampling is something like 1620x2880.

1280 x 2 = 2560
720 x 2 = 1440

200% of something is x 2.0 as the starting point of 1.0 is 100%, I think, I had a brain fart with this last night too, now I'm just going by what the 'internal resolution' in the drawscreeninfo thing to stop confusing my self :p

I think its the pixel increase thats the most confusing, 720p = 921,000 pixels, 1440p = 3.6 million pixels, so while resolution increase is only by 100%, the pixel area increase is around 350%

I don't think the numbers are 100% spot on as the scaling in frostbite may add some, but it does give us a really good idea of the demands 4k places on vram.

^I usually see that white box thing straight after rubberbanding.

Mantle still causing some problems on full ultra then? As I'd have thought 7950 @ high 2xaa 1080 Mantle was a little tame...

What should it matter what something costs/what someone pays for? If they're happy with it, and its within their budget why does it matter?

I'm not saying somethings aren't horrifically overpriced, but they do sell and customers are happy with their purchase.

I often get the feeling on this forum that as something is out of someones financial reach its therefore a poor choice for everyone.

Grrr... eveytime you go on Shanghai the Tower is still up. often for the whole round. the one time you need to land on a server with the tower still up its down, 8 in a row now....

brb.

Keep an eye out for what server you're on, I've seen a handful that have rules about no tower take downs. I presume large groups of players were just sodding off the rest of the game to take the tower down.

Mantle BF4 Ultra with no MSAA + 200% Res
Surprised at the performance I was getting. Going to start playing with about 150% seems to keep FPS close to the 120fps for me. But easy playable man didn't think it would be.

1080 200% is 4k :)

How's the vram situation with mantle at ultra (no aa) at that res?

Nope its just the fear factor all those numbers bring :D

I can go as high as 200% 2xaa then I'm fresh out of vram, sure looks pretty too, a shame more games don't have internal resolution scaling.

A pair of 780's (and by default pair of 290's) handle it surprisingly well, full ultra at 4k is unplayable but only due to hitting the vram limit, frames are still in the 35-50 range. No aa is an easy 100+, 2x is around 70-75+ iirc.

How's the 780 hunt coming along anyway humbug? You missed out on 8packs stash!

Vram leaks still an issue with mantle (hence asking about vram usage at 4k no aa)?

780 SLI @ 1150/6800

Wiggly line things aren't the bottom aren't as smooth as the mantle screen but my frame rates are matching your mantle scores.

How come one of your cards in the DX shot is only registering 5% usage?

ScreenshotWin32-0007.png

Not quite the same location, can you head to where I was.

Its how RadeonPro reads with the R9 cards. Once sec it will be 100% next %5 just jumps all over the place. Msi AB giving you 145fps and BF4 is giving you 152fps lol

Will give it a blast now, I think the mismatched FPS readings is due to either AB or the engine reading frame rates quicker/slower (delete as applicable). iirc FRAPS reads around the same as the game based read out. Think its that 'hardware polling period' thing in AB's settings.
