My system ram just goes crazy until it hits maximum physical ram then stutters a crap load. Only happened since the latest dlc. I've seen other people with the same problem. Max I've had bf4 using is around 6.5gb, but I've read of someone on the BF4 thread having it up at 13~ gb

Had another watch this morning Nick, that looks really good to me and the lines look identical to how they did in my Mantle vid above. If it was stutter, it sure didn't look like it to me. Single card should always offer such smooth performance, regardless of API. :cool:
 
I see in your vid Nick, you also get the odd cpu spike when respawning. Get this too but believe this is normal. Though ill get them at random in game. Aside from that, your overlay looks much better than mine does on any map.
 
Do you get reload stutter too? I never ever had the game smooth it always had stutter somewhere no matter how many anti stutter tweaks were applied, And i know pretty much all of them and more. But when you fire off a full clip the gun will climb then out comes the mag and stutter :/


Also im getting fed up waiting to play something would i be better off just buying a 290x blower now? Can get one for £320 + Gold token i believe? Or is the 290 vapour better all round? If i go to Bit Tech they have it beating the blower? Just noticed the second one is the 290 Direct CU II as well i can get this for £306.

As Monsieur tips says, get an AIB 290 or a 290X if you can afford it. Faster, quieter and cooler than the reference 290/290X's. My 290P's with Elpida's are always a few percent or more behind the better 290 AIB cards. If BF4 is your main game and you want smoothness, then Mantle is the best option without doubt. :)
 
No reload stutter, just does when the CPU spikes up. I've yet to check if cores are unparked on this chip as its only been in a week or so. Had it set to unpark with the 4770k I had. But even then I got the same.
 
Whats the beef on the MSI Gaming version then with regards to fan oil leakage? The last time i bought MSI i got screwed by them and i swore i would never give them a penny again. But £360 i might be able to squeeze out if it is good enough.


I will have to sit down tonight with my 120hz monitor and see what is going to happen and if i am going to keep it. I do not think i can wait another full month though i reckon ill have to buy something soon unless XTX is announced this week.

Hi guys,

Just a quick question.

I'm playing BF4 after 8 months off. I've updated the game and i'm using 14.4 drivers. MSI AB is updated (64bit) and i can see the OSB but im only getting 30- 60% GPU usage :confused: and about 30- 50FPS at 1080p High/Ultra 2MSAA.

Why might this be happening, how do i higher GPU usage and better FPS?!

I would hazard a guess at thread limitation (CPU bottleneck essentially) as you're on an i5 with dual 7970's.

You could try firing up mantle? Though you may need to monitor Vram usage and adjust settings accordingly.

Sounds like something is wrong tbh. I'd recommend...

1. Use the latest drivers, so 14.7.
2. Disable ULPS via afterburner.
3. Select Mantle from the video options in BF4.
4. Play.

Say goodbye to your cpu bottleneck.
