***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

I despised hardline to begin with, it grew on me towards the end of the beta though in agreement with most, it feels like a £10 dlc pack not a £40 stand alone.

Not that bothered about launch delay, the new borderlands and gta games will consume my life as of October, hardline wouldn't have gotten a look in.

This TBH. Although I'm interested to see what they do with more time. Hopefully increase the tick count to 60 and include all of the good changes from the CTE. With some tweaks to the game modes and a big reduction in price I might just get it.
 
With David Ospina more or less joining, it's impossible for Casillas to join right?

Is Ospina really that good? I saw a few Columbia games in the WC and he was OK, nothing special. But the internet seems to suggest he is good and has good attributes.

It is a bit "BF4 DLC" but also with a difference, i enjoyed it, i found myself playing it more than BF4, thats not saying it better, its just, well, different.

I like it, i think i will buy it.
 
Let's be honest, if they released jet set willy with 48k graphics as it did on a spectrum with the words "mantle support" on it, Both ltmatt and humbug would buy it for £49.99 ;)
 
Ive said it before, mantle is very impressive. But to launch it on bf4 is not a good move. The game is terrible. Bit like sticking a bugatti veyron engine on a go kart with no wheels. Ive played bf4 on my spec in sig and a relatives 3570k based system with a 290. Yes the latter is a bit smoother, less cpu use. Probably even better for someone on an older cpu. But, under the frostbite engine, bf3 plays flawlessly under DX, no need for mantle. The game is just a badly coded joke. I play a lot of bf4, and ive thought about changing to a 290. But why sidegrade for such a bad game. 290 is an amazing card for the price tbh, 4gb ram is good but im still only on 1920x1200 where even 2gb is still plenty.

Yes its odd bf3 runs great on DX for both sides :( One could nearly assume DX was purposely coded bad :p

DirectX works great for AMD though in BF4, so i think we can toss that theory out. Mantle just works a heap load better, unless you're running 4K at maximum settings. :)

It was a bit tongue in cheek really,, but does BF4 really run great on AMD DX or could it of been coded better for both sides?
Its something we will never know :)

It really runs great on AMD DX, just ask Kaapers lol. Probably worth remembering how both sides go about things with regards to optimization. AMD work with the dev to optimize and provide some optimizations via their own drivers. A 50-50 collaboration. Nvidia take a different approach as they have more resources and do most of their driver work themselves with a small amount of help from the dev, there is more like 90-10 collaboration on driver optimization via Nvidia/Dev. Hence Nvidia users having problems with smoothness in BF4 (if applicable - does not affect everyone) need to get Nvidia to fix it. Certainly pcper and now HardOCP have both touched on smoothness issues for Nvidia cards in BF4 and other titles.

HAd some Beef4 last night and I'm getting fed up with this damn CPU spiking. GPU line is fine.

Any fixes for this? I also get a crash every so often where BF4.exe cannot connect/access the graphics software/driver, 4109 error in event manager.

I have the same issue, (massive cpu spikes) and have scoured various forums, sites looking for and trying any fix listed all to no avail. Aside from this the game runs ok but it can be very annoying due to the stutter associated with the spiking.

Setter, it is time to get yourself a 290P/X and join the Mantle crew. You'll never need a driver update again, it just works. :cool:
