***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

It may even be down to card type or something Rossi, me and setter both have the same problem on the same map and both are on 780's. Will do more investigating at the weekend.

The Lt name dropped me, oh the privilege! :D

But yeah I'm very pleased with the performance of my 290 in BF4. I'm running 1440p with all Ultra, no motion blur, no FXAA, 82 FOV, 2xMSAA, SSAO and have it capped at 70 fps (it's enough for me and keeps temps looking very nice). It rarely drops below 70 unless there's massive explosions and my gpu usage tends to hover around the 80% mark on average so there's still a bit left in the tank. There's exceptions such as Guilin Peaks where the fps will bomb to around 55 sometimes around the centre flag or if I'm looking out at the expanse of the Paracel Storm map and it might go down to around 60, but it's still perfectly playable. Are you playing at 1080p Setter?

Captured a round of Pearl Market Setts on a single 290 with a small overclock (7%) 1050/1250. Converting and uploading now, but should give you a rough idea of what to expect from a single 290. Lose about 5-15fps from recording. :)

Update on the stutter

Low PC performance and stuttering
Our team is working on reproducing situations that may cause low PC performance and stuttering while playing Dragon’s Teeth. If you have a solid case on your machine, please reach out to us on the Battlelog forums over at http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/forums. [battlelog.battlefield.com]

We know this is happening more for players with Mantle enabled, and with more than one graphics card (including Nvidia SLI). For some players lowering the texture quality to low (or lower than they currently are using) also temporarily fixes this.

Some users experience less of the stuttering to be coming from the use of the Battlescreen, especially in Chrome. Try using another web browser and closing the battlescreen to see if this is indeed the case.

We are hard at work looking for the root-causes for these performance issues and this thread will be updated once we know more.

How long for the fix is the question?

Well now that is interesting, that is the same problem you get in BF4 with Mantle on 2GB cards, lowing the texture quality is also the way you fix that.

Sort it out DICE...

Funnily enough i recorded a round earlier this morning, using a single 290P, Mantle and Pearl Market and it was absolute perfection @1080p Ultra preset. Will have the video ready for setter to check out shortly. Give him a taste of what to expect.

Its far more versatile then the regular vdub and not a total douch all of the time :p

I believe avidemux is also based on vdub as another alternative.

Furry muff. I will give it a butchers when i do my next vid. I got VirtualDub working with MP4 now though and here are the fruits of my labour. MP4 > AVI > H264 Lol. Probably should've just recorded in AVI to start with but nevermind.

Setter here's a single 290 playing Pearl Market 64 player conquest large.

2700k@5ghz
16GB DDR3 2133Mhz
290P 1050/1350
Win8.1 64 Bit
14.7 Beta
1080P Ultra Preset + x4 AA
Mantle API

Nice vid Matt and some good kills. Good frames for a single card as well.

Missing 10-15fps or so because of recording and the reason for the small spiky cpu line, but yeah good performance for a 290P reference i think. I'll be going back to crossfire now though and 1440P. :D

I recorded the video in 60FPS too but i guess Youtube does not support it yet as it's turned it into 30fps. :(

This is a game i play a lot, and tbh at the minute im thinking of getting shot of the 780 and going for a 290. Now thats drastic for me as ive never owned an amd card before.

If your main game is BF4 I think it would be a good idea mate as long as you can afford to change your card that is. I love my 290x. :)
