***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Looks like my game is borked.
Changed my settings to dx11 went to the test range and it just sits at the test range loading screen.
GPU usage is at 0% (Afterburner ovelay) and the game seems to trying to load at about 1fps!

How do I set the defaults outside of the game?

Can you try without Afterburner running?

This happened to me the other night, afterburner running = stuck at loading screen, as soon as I killed it the game fired right up. Raptr also does this.

If dice and ea would bring the changes from CTE into the main bf4 game, there would be no need for mantle. The level of smoothness that CTE runs on dx makes mantle worthless. Less fps drops, less stuttering. Its that smooth it makes bf3 look bad. Ive ran it on my rig in sig and my old i7 930, a system that shoul;d show bottlenecks with a modern multithreaded game. Perfect on both. I played bf4 on a relatives 3570k 290 based rig. yes its much smoother than nvidia dx. Play a CTE round, it makes mantle feel sluggish

I find that hard to believe mate. Have you tried Mantle on CTE? I don't doubt that DX is better though.

Strange that a clean install of BF4 works with dx and Afterburner. Once you select Mantle then try to go back to dx it won't run with Afterburner running. Close Afterburner and dx loads.
Any ideas?

I think you're having probs though aren't you in general with smoothness? My 780 game was dead smooth - as smooth as mantle was on my 290. Marginally better FPS but otherwise identical.

Unless you're multi GPU or have a low end CPU mantle doesn't do much over DX anyway in BF4. I think for multi GPU users mantle would still make improvements.

Given up on Mantle, CPU load goes all over the place. DX11 hardly moves even though the GPU load is slightly higher.
Been trying a few settings over the last couple of days and it's Mantle that is causing me problems.
Using the latest 14.7 drivers on Win 8.1 x64.

Challenge accepted. Lets see what's going wrong.

Please tell me your specs, clocks used, what os and what details you play with in game. Also see below.

1. Download my user.cfg file. Place it in your BF4.exe folder.
2. Play BF4.
3. When that starts happening bring up the ingame console, press `.
4. Type Render.Screenshot. It will be saved in your my docs/bf4 folder.
5. Post the screenshot here wrapped in spoiler tags.

Have this same issue though with nvidia, so wouldn't bank on it being a mantle associated issue.

OK will do. Cheers

Runing 1920x1080 Mantle. High settings 4xAA HABO. Matts 7990 Bios Win8.1 14.7 drivers.

Can you post a shot of the afterburner settings you are using please.
They don't always happen in vehicles, missed some screenshots on foot.

How did you manage to take a screenshot without typing Render.Screenshot ?

Vram wise you look ok. Looks like there is something else at play here.

Here are my afterburner settings.

Can you show me a screenshot of afterburner after this spiking starts happening? Also are you using any other commands in the User.Cfg file, or just what i sent you?

Have you unparked your cpu cores?

Have you downloaded pbsetup and updated punkbuster too the latest version?

Hi LtMatt.
At the top of my screenshot on the left you can see the console command "Screenshot.Render" been used. You can just open the console and press the up arrow key for the last command used.
You can see the list of all commands as "Render.Screenshot" is the wrong way round.

The user.cfg file is yours.

Cores are unparked.

Only difference in Afterburner was the last box "Enable Unified GPU use monitoring" checked that box now.

Downloaded Punkbuster this morning an updated it. Ill see if this makes a difference.

Thanks for the help appreciate it.

Unfortunately the guy whos system i played it on hasnt got access to CTE. From my own findings with dx, CTE is much better than vanilla bf4. Quite possible on my mates system under mantle it could have been a server issue as this can happen a lot. Would be interesting to see how CTE fairs under mantle.

Just on ordinary bf4 Rusty, saw your post about the two cards feeling similair over on MLG but you still have hitbox lag issues on occassion. Hitboxes havent been too bad for me tbh, just the random spikes and the associated stutter. Im running a stock 4790k, (4.4 turbo) so still a pretty quick cpu, though it happens when oc'd too.

It's not bf4 exactly but does anyone find that GPU over clocks that are stable in heaven are not even close in bf3/4. I found my 780 could do 1228 @ 1.212v in heaven yet in bf3 I get directx errors at 1150. Reducing it down to 1124 allowed it to stay completely fine for hours. Temps arent an issue at 50c and I have an rm850 for power.

Unigine benchmarks are a poor indication of stability. Current, demanding games are by far the best and most stressful way of testing.

Getting confused about CTE is it available for everyone or still being tested?
Still being tested, albeit there arent many servers. Loaded origin up just now and there was another small update for it. The new build released recently is astonishingly good, kinda puts you off playing normal bf4 though when you see what it could be.
