***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Played a round just now after making a few changes system wise, no spiking during gameplay, (just respawn which is normal). Last night i tried adaptive vsync but still had issues. Today i updated onboard audio drivers, (realtek) which i heard can cause some issues. Also closed samsung magician. Another program which is rumoured to interfere with the game. Only one round so far trouble free, but ill know better after an extended play tonight.

Lol, does seem a bit trivial tbh. But you wouldnt believe the grief that it causes. Your playing away, go to take a shot and bam. Massive stutter throws your aim way off and you end up getting killed instead. Im never gonna be a fantastic player who tops scoreboards regularly, but my performance in this has taken a nosedive due to this problem.:o

I kid mate but don't worry i know how frustrating it can be. I was there in the early days of AMD DX11 in BF4 and i had the same issues.

A reminder of a spike free experience you can expect with a 290 Tri X under Mantle. Bear in mind the performance hit from recording.

If anyone can spot one single gpu spike or variance, i will give you both my 290 cards.

Ive had the spiking issue since bf4 was released. At that time i was running an i7 3770k and sli gtx 670's. Those cards were carried over to my spec in sig for a while before getting the gtx 780. Get it at stock speed or oc'd on gpu's and cpu's, (3x haswell i7's). Few things ive tried, unparking cores, user.cfg file tweaks, various changes in the nv control panel, experimenting with multiple setting configurations in the game graphics menu, ports on router, even been as far as uninstalling the game, reinstalling it and a format and reinstall of windows. All i can think of is that its a server issue, CTE is a lot better. But i havent played it in a while and need to download the 30gb update.

I have this stutter on AMD 7990 so two cards and you have it on a single 780. I have mates with 780's and they are fine. I was gonna suggest that the only thing I haven't or you have tried is turning off hyperthreading but my mates are running i7's with 780's and they report perfect play. You've had stutter from the beginning of BF4 and never got rid? My CPU frame times were fine. Just since DT it has gone awry and to be honest gotten worse. First it was a regular spike with equal delays of low lag between them. The other eve it looked like a siesmograph during a ricter 8.0 quake. Never been that bad and was unplayable come the end. My plasterer on PS4 says BF4 is unplayable for him due to the stutter since DT too.

Hope they fix it soon and they did acknowledge in the battle log that there were stutter problems.

Gaming night tonight so see if it's magically fixed itself - NOT.

Are you using Mantle?

Yes using mantle..................then again did I try Direct X to see if it was better? Maybe this is why it seemed to become worse?

Good memory jog Matt. I'll check as I may have not gone back to mantle.

If you have gone back to Mantle, follow the advice I've been giving to others in the AMD driver thread. It's not normal to have stutter.

Just reinstalled CTE today, difference over normal bf4 is staggering. Smooth as greased lightning. Pearl market map is still a mess though, spiky performance lines on cpu/gpu and big fps drops into the low 50's. Few other maps i tried were grand. This is with every setting on highest possible. In standard bf4 i drop msaa to x2, use SSAO and turn off motion blur.

What maps are you saying you have issues with? and with what settings? im asking cause i want to test this as i have the same GFX and just a nudge less on the CPU side and dont recall having any issues at all.

All maps tbh, pearl market is the worst though. But lots of people are getting the same on that map. Im running a totally stock system at the mo, but this happens at stock or oc'd. Below is a shot from normal bf4.

The high yellow cpu line happens on all maps, but the above is pearl market which has issues. Below is a shot from CTE.

Note the much flatter lines on the graph. It stays pretty much like this during a full round. The above shot was taken on an empty server. But in normal bf4 i get huge spikes even on empty servers or test range. The second pic im running everything maxed, in the first one ive dropped msaa to x2, ssao instead of hbao

Hi I'm after some advice please. Has anyone got any links to setting your system up to play BF4 on Windows 8.1?
I've just done a clean install of 8.1 yesterday this is the first time I've used it, and now I'm getting huge CPU usage on BF4 that my game drops to 30 FPS even on ZAVOD.

I'm using a i7@ 4.6 with my 7990 (Matts BIOS) 14.4 WHQL drivers and Mantel. Win 7 was running better for me.
I've unparked the cores. Any advice welcome.
Cheers H.
