***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Wow this one's a real stress tester. Had to knock what I thought was a stable overclock on my CPU back to stock as I had two blue screens when first trying to join servers.

This was taken from a 10 minute or so run on a well populated (61 players when I joined) server. Most of my time was spent as cannon fodder for other players!

This is not my normal cup of tea so take my impressions with a grain of salt. Game felt pretty responsive, some obvious stutters but overall not to bad considering the low average frame rate. Looks like my CPU was holding me back at times, will try bumping up the volts to get back to my previous 4.4Ghz overclock. Will give the Ultra and High presets a spin latter to see what that does for my frame rate. I'd definitely want to be over 60FPS for something like this. Pretty impressed for a beta and a good looking game. Just wish it had a render each screen separately option so I could get rid of the fish eye effect on the side screens even with the hit to performance that entails.

Whack your fans up and try this little mod.

The above was with a 120mm fan, a 140mm worked a good bit better though. Id actually considered buying another good clocker from illuz on the forums here and selling the weaker card. Spent the money on a new board and cpu instead after also selling my z77 kit.

This is my new set up:

I love it :D

Got Antec spot cools blowing air on my cards to keep them cool. Can't wait to get them under water and push the clocks whilst enjoying the silence :)

Lol, with cooling like that, at this point i will bow out and admit defeat.:D

Spotcools do indeed work well, particularly when placed behind reference blower cards. As mine are non ref a fan behind them would only be circulating the warm air about.

I got a new 140mm fan to stick in the bottom of my case, so that will hopefully help pull cool air in. Right now the side is off, so air is all over the place.

Removing PCI brackets can help as well i find, if you have a highly positive pressure case. More space for hot air to escape.

Ultra preset settings (not all set to ultra some are on high) , x2 msaa, HBAO on, post aa off, 1920x1080

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
8195, 240726, 19, 50, 34.043

2500k @4.5ghz, gtx570 @750/1995.

Think i better lower some settings. Still ran a little better than i thought.
New GPU for xmas i think.

Airflow in my case is **** tbh due to it's front design. Cooling consists of.

3x 120mm front intake, (2 of which do nothing)
1x 120mm floor intake
2x 120mm roof exhaust
1x 140mm rear exhaust.

Ive bodge mounted a fan behind some lian li 5.25 mesh bezels for the extra front intake.

Getting the black loading screen bug. Downloading PB client now but it's going at 7kb/s. World and his wife doing the same thing no doubt lol. :D Also updated to the latest betas for the hell of it.

Sorry guys.. a lot of posts too read through! Just thought id give my impressions.

Played it for about 30 mins earlier... got crossfire 7950s with a 2600k @4.2 and 8gb ram. Had everything on max and was very smooth, couldnt notice any shuttering. There was a point where I had some drop in fps but that was when there were tanks/explosions/a large amount of players all in one point. Will try and get some actual figures and usage later!

I'm quite impressed. The only lag & stutter I got was from a server with high ping players. Here is my usage while in-game:

I'm getting flicker...seems to be on dust / smoke. Anyone else with Nvidia cards getting that problem?

EDIT: Ignore, restarted game after changing settings. All good.

All this talk about using more threads got me thinking, does this mean it makes the CPU run hotter? (my 4770K runs hot enough as it is).
Seeing 65c max at 4.5ghz on a very hot running 4770k. Gets to 94c max under p95. Temps in this are pretty similair to what i get in other multi threaded games such as bf3 and crysis 3.

So, I've just played all afternoon after tweaking for a bit. I was pleasantly surprised. The things you guys with Crossfire 7970's and 780's were saying about it had me worried!

Auto settings were horribly slow. It reccomended Ultra textures even though I've only got 1.5GB of VRAM (580 @ 875/2200). Bumped that down to Medium and things were much better. With no AA (which I don't use anyway), VRAM usage hovers just under 1.4GB which is spot on, seemingly. GPU load is constant 99% and my 2700K @ 4.6 is working like a champ. All cores fluctuate but average about 60-70%, ideal! Bumping my 580 from stock to the above clocks netted a noticeable improvement, as well.

It seems to me that lots of CPU cores is the trick. You'd probably have to bump down a lot more settings if you only have 2 or 4. VRAM is an issue if you want all the bells and whistles and MSAA (to be expected really) but you can get very playable framerates with a lowly 1.5GB. It also feels like that there's a lot of progress to be made in terms of optimisation of performance and netcode. I've no doubt that this will roll out over the course of the BETA.

EDIT: Just realised, I wasn't even using the reccomended BETA Drivers. I was on 327.23. Updating now, so I'll report back. Also, currently playing at 1080p.

Hi guys i am back with new advises.

This time for user with a FX-6xx0 processor.
It will sound weird but it will help you, so go in your Bios and deactivate 1 core, so you will get a 4 core configuration, after that oc your cpu ~ 4,5 GHz and you will see good results. (BF 4 is bugged so you have to do this unfortunately if you are using a FX-6xx0 processor).

User with FX-8xx0 will do fine without deactivating cores etc.
And don t forget the tip i posted before, start BF 4 press alt tab to exit game and open task manager and switch processor priotity to low and enter the game again, you have to do this everytime you start the game.

Run an actual benchmark using Fraps and show your finding....you'll find you're getting a lot lower than 61 and 25 at those settings using a 5870 lol :p

Put CPU and GPUs back to stock for first run. Will do more tomorrow but run out of time. Grabbed what I could
Sigs in spec. Latest beta drivers, Windows 7 SP1

Played half hour session. 64 man server. Everything on ULTRA, SSAO 4XMSAA
