***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Apart from the fact the beta crashes when I get blown up, pretty happy. From what others have said previously I thought my i5 would really struggle but held its own. On Ultra preset got the below.

I'm going to head back in and see what the cpu usage is like.

You can do better than that mate. Overclock your CPU more. This is mine on 2500k @ 4.5, MSI HD 7970 TFIII @ 1125/1450 using Ultra with AA on x2 & PPAA on low @ 1080p.

Only a small test because I get too annoyed on Conquest with all the vehicles.

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
13981, 227375, 47, 83, 61.489

Prior to this being opened to everyone, it was polite on all the servers I was on. Now it is fully open Beta, everyone is a cheat/hacker/expletive etc etc Ohhh and a sniper.

I do like the 32 man domination though.

Game runs terrible for me, constant stutter even on Low. Pretty unplayable.
Tempted to buy a 7990, but I feel it wouldn't help much :p

I feel exactly the same. I felt like the 'Closed' Beta was a little more friendly and folk got along with each other and discussed the game properly. As you said, now it just seems to be whining and bitching.

Agreed there Greg and wndzr.

It was all a lot more civilized before it went open. Pretty much every game ended with both sides saying GG, nice match etc...
I've also noticed a hell of a lot more roof camping snipers in groups of 4 or more now fwiw.

I hate to generalise, but I can't help but feel that those with the first wave of the Beta were the ones who didn't mind paying a few quid on the game as they probably have a source of income. Now it's open, it's been opened to those who got BF3 for Christmas by their parents and have got access by default. Average age: 15.

You're so right about the end of round comments. I said to my mates on TS that I haven't seen players so friendly at the end of the round in years.

Should have mentioned I'm @1440p! Tried running @4.4ghz but wasn't stable, haven't done much overclocking in the past so might have messed it up. Any tips? All I did was change the multiplier, do I need to mess around with voltages as well?

Definately maxing out the cpu though, @100% the entire round

Somebody who knows a lot more about overclocking will reply I'm sure, but CPU at 100% is a very common 'issue' discussed a lot on the Battlelog forums. I don't imagine it will be the same in the retail release.

Here's my latest benchmark fwiw...

25 minutes of gameplay @ Full ultra/4xMSAA:

MIN: 0 (lol)
MAX: 125
AVG: 64.124

64 player
Win7
2500K @4.5
7970 @1230/1600

I'm willing to bet that those occasional stutter caused minimums are down the the beta and win7, not the i5.
Come the full release, I'd bet that this issue will be sorted out.

It's not like it even happens in every game, and definitely isn't a result of what's occuring onscreen or has much to do with how many players are on the server.
It can happen in an empty room while staring at the wall, or just running around on an empty server.

I can imagine that there'll be a few maps that will be more demanding with size and weather etc and when proper 'full ultra' is implemented, those averages will go down a little, but I still reckon an i5 (oc'd) and a good single gpu will be fine for this game.
Might have to turn down AA or something, but hey...

Naa i think they gave us the worse map like they did Caspian Border in the BF3 Beta. That building comes down way too early aswell lol

Hey Uncle Petey.. what res is that benchmark at? If thats 1080p then it has to be ur i5 cuz my min fps came out better with i7 2700K & 7950 on Win 7.

Min 34
Max 93
Avg 53.368

i5? Gotta be hasnt it? :p

It deffo isnt Win 7 cuz 99% of my BF4 gameplay is pretty damn smooth :)

That was an extreme example of the minimum situation. Often it's around 20-30fps, sometimes worse, but it only ever lasts for a second or so.

Sure, an i7 would be better, but I doubt that it's the main cause.

There are a good few people that have a similar setup to me and have reported no such issues when going to win8. There are also some with i7's that have the same issue...
It's got to be something to do with the way this beta communicates with win7 and quad cores imo.

You reckon they'd make it pretty much mandatory for everyone to upgrade to i7's or hex/octo core just to play this? :)

Ed: yeah, it's at 1080.

Just did a quick 4 minute or so bench on fraps on a 64 player server:

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
16771, 210328, 58, 170, 79.737

i5 2500k @4.3 GHZ and 2x GTX 670's 2gb. Manually all set to ultra, 4xMSAA, 1080p

Pretty impressed considering this is my GPU usage :o

Each card has about 25% more to give on average!

3930k @ 5GHZ and my 7970 @ 1300/1750 HD 7970 on a 64/64 player server with ultra preset min43, max116, avg71

Edit: No stuttering i might add, butter smooth gameplay.

I5s are borderline useless for BF4 :o . AMD 8 cores or i7s are obviously the better choices, along with an AMD GPU ofcourse.

I wouldn't say useless. I mean I still hardly ever see the framerate drop below 60 and if it does its only into the 50's and when there is **** loads of stuff kicking off in front of and around me. Trouble is, at these moments I can see GPU usage drop to as low as 60% on both cards so I know if I had an i7 I would see a big boost.....

However, seen as i'm getting mid /high 50's as the very minimum, im not going to be in a massive rush to go out and buy an i5. On the plus side, my 670's are keeping nice, cool and quiet and are barely breaking a sweat!

Is this on windows 8 ? as i don't know how your getting that type of FPS:eek: is 4 mins enough??
I have the same cpu and 770 sli and my gpu usage is around 25-40% averagely around 30% and thats at the same clock speed as yours 4.3ghz
