***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

1920x1200
Settings to ultra no AA
60 to 64 players on the map

Min 10
Avg 51
Max 95

Intel Core I5 3570K @4.5Ghz
Geforce GTX670 2Gb @ stock
8Gb Ram 1600Mhz
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

To look at the average you would think it wasn't to bad but I found the game to be very stuttery which looking at the minimum of 10 Fps is no surprise.

BF4 sucks.. been playing it since last night, gone back to BF3 and it feels much more open and less like a arcade game :s maybe its just me lol

BF3 & 4 are not arcade games, but simulators. I can see what you mean as BF4 seems more arcade like than 3, but they are supposed to be sims. I'd class arcade games as the COD series.

I played a couple of hours on eyefinity last night and got to 2.9Gb on my 7950 (1100/6000) at a temp of 75'C. CPU went 100% across all three cores and got to a max 64'C on a couple of cores. There were 2-3 serious stutters or freezes for a second or more which reminded me of the early days of BF3 on a an earlier version of the rig. Performance was pretty good on full/almost full 64 man servers, though the various fraps runs showed mins of 0 at times. Average seemed to be around 25-30. I also tried Duvars low priority tip and that did seem to help s little but overall the game is playable as I am not a highly accomplished player.

As I have a non-HT CPU and Win 7 I am struggling what is the best upgrade (if any on a beta version) - xfire to a second card, W8 or an HT CPU like 2600/2700K ?

cj

I'd wait for the actual release as it will be better optimised and make a more informed decision then.

Heres my Maxed out 1080p i posted before..

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
15629, 292851, 34, 93, 53.368

Now heres the same settings with MLAA enabled on a full round..

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
77180, 1439645, 33, 105, 53.610

Thought i'd give it a try and seems that MLAA may give a higher max fps.

The on screen text isnt that blurry at all with MLAA enabled.. might be worth a try :)

Heres a screenshot with MLAA..

lol :D... nothing wrong with this as a benchmark! ;)

I'm wondering what's to be had from Windows 8. Seems to run just fine on 7 for me.

You are right

It is actually difficult to tell the difference @1600p between using 4 Titans or 2 GTX 690s on near identical setups in BF4.

Now if only I could play the game properly.:D

Hmmm I'm slightly surprised, largely baffled and hugely impressed.

A few of you might know the last week or so I've deliberated on buying a 2nd 7950 mainly for this game. I've been so worried, I hadn't actually downloaded the game because I didn't want to be upset at its performance......until today just because my 2nd 7950 came in the post yesterday.

I've decided to give it a go on a single 7950 first to see how it performed before I hooked up the 2nd card. I was expecting shocking performance after spending all week reading this thread. So anyway, opted to put it on high first and go on a small map just on my own. Ran FRAPS and got 60fps solid @ 1080. Went on 64 player map High settings still locked at 60fps @ 1080. So, I think what the hell lmao...Just ran Custom setting with everything on Ultra except no AA and I'm getting 60fps with the odd drop but no lower than 55fps. This was not what I was expecting at all, I'm so frigging confused. When I run 4x AA it drops in the 40fps range but still, I can live with 60fps @ 1080p everything on Ultra except no AA. This is not right on a single 7950 surely. I'm very happy, I'm actually dreading now popping the 2nd 7950 in and running the game, I'm actually worried the CPU wont cope with both cards and I'll actually get lower FPS lmao.

What you reckon? How can I record my FRAPS over a period of time like you guys have and post the graphs to show?

Have you tried setting the process to low priority per Duvar's advice ? (or was that just for the i5 crowd ?)

Ok again:
Everyone can set priority to low (Task manager) after starting BF4.
FX 6XXX user can deactivate 1 core in Bios to get the game playable.
Windows 8.1 will improve smoothness and give you more FPS.

Here are 3 of mine running High settings on a 64 server:

2013-10-04 15:22:15 - bf4
Frames: 15153 - Time: 264858ms - Avg: 57.212 - Min: 1 - Max: 83

2013-10-04 16:54:23 - bf4
Frames: 27481 - Time: 474025ms - Avg: 57.974 - Min: 0 - Max: 97

2013-10-05 17:33:48 - bf4
Frames: 60079 - Time: 1042320ms - Avg: 57.640 - Min: 0 - Max: 105

I think the '0's are down to the CPU hitting 100% causing stuttering.

Hi Snips - is that on a 1080p screen, Win7 and Ultra ? I have a slightly lower spec but much lower mins, I think due to the larger screen estate over eyefinity.

Everything on Ultra 0x MSAA / Post AA on Low @ 1920 x 1080P, 64 Man server full

7870XT @ 1150 / 1500

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
55748, 1054286, 36, 63, 52.877
Go on you little beauty...:D

Very surprising performance.

Yes, 1080p screen and Win 7 using High Settings. Slightly disapointing, but I think it'll clear up once the full version has been released. If not, a 4930k is on the cards.
