The cinema...WTF !!!

I would imagine that with the increase in film downloading, prices are rising to retain revenue.

A large factor in the ticket prices is actually down to the distributors demanding more money, it may change when all the cinema move to digital but at the moment they are, understandably to a certain extent, reluctant to give a film print worth thousands of euro to a cinema which will earn less money for them than if it went somewhere else.

So, while cinemas do only really make their money on the shop the ticket prices are high to accommodate the distributors or else they won't get the film releases when they come out, or possibly at all. Obviously a standard cinema without major releases is just as dead as a standard cinema without a shop unless some major reworking were to occur.

Haven't read the whole thread.
Anyway - loved the comment about "No wonder people pirate films" - when over 3/4 of the money spent in the cinema was on food and drink.

That's right, cinema over charge for food and drink and that justifies film theft - just goes to show that these pirates and free-loaders will use any attempt to justify what they do!

Cinema tickets are quite reasonable and if you've got a Cineworld Unlimited card it's an even better deal.

It got me thinking aswel, while playing TimeCrisis in the arcade, why don't cinemas mount some sort of camera above the screen facing the audience incase stuff like this happens, all the staff have to do is watch the feed and eject anyone who's ruining the film for other people?

My local cinema have cameras so they can keep an eye on people.
Lakeside Vue is one of the best cinemas I've ever been to.

I only ever go on Orange wednesdays now but apparently Orange are looking to drop it. I heard t-mobile were looking to fill the void with something like t-mobile tuesday's but didn't they just merge? Or was it only tower sharing they did and no business sharing?

I doubt they will as it has been and still is a massive success.

A few people aren't finding the prices the bad part, it's the fact the cinemas are dire, run down and also the fact that many cinema-goers need exterminated. :)

I think the last few pirate copies of films I've seen have rivalled or been better than the cinema... Pure lol...

are you that guy who made the thread about people leaving rubbish behind in cinemas? because your job is to clean up lol...

i wouldnt do it even if the tickets were 2.50 for employees

so we cant afford kids because we cant justify £60+ at the cinema and then suddenly we must be on benefits....
maybe when you move out of your parents house into the real world and stand on your own two feet you views will change..

did you know my family when to disneyworld florida 1 year ago for two weeks ?
going back for 3 weeks in 1 years time.

dont worry though i must be on benefits if i cant afford a cinema trip

Where did I say anyone, or you in particular were on benefits?
I said I believe people should be able to afford to have a large number of kids before they do so, as children are a huge extra expense, however, they are a choice (despite being our future!)

The only reason I pointed that out was because I believe we all know how many people there are in this country who have as big a family as possible, then expect to get everything on a plate for free because of it. Again, I never pointed any fingers at you.

I'm not sure what your family going to Florida has to do with anything, but that's nice.

Finally, I don't live with my parents and own my own place.

As far as I see it, my point that a single ticket for a film costing just over a tenner is reasonable. Yes it adds up to a hell of a lot if you are taking the wife and four kids, but the individual ticket price, if each individual was paying their way is fair.

Four drinks is a tenner.

It will be more than a tenner in most places and I don't just mean London before somebody chips in with the usual comments.

If it's cheaper than that, the girls you date must be easily impressed and enjoy a run down old men's working club!

Just to rub it in as i always do in cinema prices threads, £2.50 for me 2D or 3D :)

Cheap cinema tickets no way makes up for the minimum wage job

I can walk into any of the chain pubs in town and get 4 drinks for under a tenner no problem, its even easier in the none chain places. You obviously drink in expensive pubs
