The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

i haven't really done any sidequests, ive just got to the galaxy radio station, level 3...is this rushing through?

For the first time in a game I want to level slowly I just want to explore this game for ages and feels a bit wierd just capping to 20...

Yeah I've found myself at level 12 without even touching rivet city. Hope they patch it to update content.

It actually upsets me lol :( the game is awesome and dont want it to end, but what were they thinking with this level cap

Yeh, I downloaded a mod (XPRewardHotfix) to cut down the XP you receive, but it's not "sticking" in the Data Files checkbox. Anyone else seeing this, checkbox "unchecking" itself?

im really short of ammo. for pistols and rifles i can find loads of lazer ammo but i dont need it any idea were i can get some ?

search everywhere? i've never come close to running out really, i've got plenty of every type of ammo now, the biggest problem i've had is my combat shotgun breaking and not enough raiders carrying for me to repair it myself. i've got all the ammo from exploring locations, killing raiders and mutants and generally looking around.

I see, I will make a visit to Grayditch tonight.

Another question, is there any crap I need to collect out of the tins, cups, scrap, books, hammers etc. or should I just leave it and only take the valuable stuff?

Well the have no initial use, some books are used in quests and scrap metal is used for things also.

But the things like hammers, cups and so on, they can be used in your Rock-It-Launcher to be fired out off, which is great fun. Blowing people apart with a teddy bear :P

Oh, do any zones respawn the mobs in them? I'd love to go back to places I went to early on, and fight more difficult mobs :)

I'm not sure if they "respawn" but certain triggers in the game make mobs spawn in cleared zones.

How do you repair weapons etc?

Do I need to have any consumables to be able to repair it or does it just use skill?

Like in oblivion it had repair hammers?

You can either get NCP's to repair them to a certain level (shops, travelling salesmen, wastelanders), or repair them yourself. Apart from special cases, you need an item of the same sort to repair. The higher your repair skill, the higher your repair.

I'm going to try this mod...

No God Mode In VATS

"Player will take same amount of damage in VATS as in real time. For (hopefully) more balanced and challenging combat"

...to try and make the game a bit harder.

Moira at the Megaton supplies store can repair up to 52% from the beginning, it costs a lot of caps though, I could repair my 5 guns or so but that would cost 376 caps and I only have ~500 so I think it would be smarter to buy all the ammo I can seeing as a lot of people run out of ammo.

Ammo seems to become more availabe I found after around level 7-8. I rarely run out now and use mostly combat shotguns, hunting rifle, scoped magnum and now just got the sniper rifle off a talon npc. I have a sneaky feeling the ammo type you find in loot is connected to the weapon the game thinks you use the most recently.

To repair weapons and armour you just need to loot the same item againm, you then select the item and press R, the select the looted duplicate on the screen that comes up. If the looted item is not selectable for repair then your skill isnt high enough.

Yep, I didn't think I was rushing at all, but ended up finishing the game at level 15 ish, and I did a few sidequests aswell.

On my second playthrough now, haven't even got to GNR and I'm level 7!
