The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

My guy wears the blue overalls becasue it give me +5 to small guns and +5 to engery guns, which improves the aim and i dont really use the heavy weapons, such as the minigun, missle launcer, flame thrower and fatman.

I'm a bit stuck in the Springvale school. I'm in the lower levels, what looks like a cave and the ant things keep attacking me in this large cavern. Any ideas?

Thanks

Clear the tunnel until you reach a ledge which means you can go no further.

There are a couple of dead bodies down there, you may need to move one to find a book which will boost sneak +1. There's a rifle down there too.

The ants stop spawning eventually just slug it out with them.

Can you zoom in and out on the Pip-Boy? As in the game you can only see the screen of it (on my game anyway) but in screenshots it shows the whole thing:

Tried it today; game is totally unplayable on an 8800gt, amd x2 machine.

Every few seconds the game locks up for 5 seconds or so. If I try to use the pip-boy it gets even worse. Going into VATS combat mode makes it worse as well. You basically have a 1-second window to issue commands, then it locks up for 5-10 seconds.

Disaster.

Judging from bethesda forums, the game is giving a lot of people problems.

NOPE none here on 8800gt

I'm thinking my spec system spec is a lot lower than yours m8.....check my sig for details.

I'm running FO 3 at 1440 x 900 on pretty much Ultra settings with no problems so far, apart from the well documented stutering issues here and there that have already been discussed.

If you are having issues with it running with an 8800, then there's something far wrong as I'm running it perfectly well with an ATI X1900XTX 512Mb.

I have an 8800gt and a low end core 2 duo, game runs perfectly fine for me.

This past day or so I've had about 8 crashes. Really damn annoying. FPS thing hasn't fixed my stuttering either :(

Oh, how the hell do I get to GNR plaza? I've tried getting to it from almost every direction on the map, and I just end getting to a big pile of rubble every time.

the metro tunnels running throughout the city, they often have to be used to go to different areas within the city as there is rubble blocking off many of the roads throughout the city.

Update: backed the settings down to low (the lowest setting).

Seems the pausing has gone away now.

I was hoping for better than low settings after upgrading to the 8800gt tho.

What settings are you guys running with that card?

Also my sound card (revolution 7.1) seems to have no DirectSound hardware acceleration. That could be a factor, I guess. But it works fine with every other game, including recent titles like Crysis and Dead Space.

OK it could be that the 8800gt I got (via ebay) is actually faulty.

It works in Dead Space, but that game might not push it as much as F3 does. Could it be it's failing under the added stress?

I just found that the problem can also occur using low settings, it just takes longer to happen. But happen it does regardless.

What's the best program for testing gfx cards? I only just bought it so I'm sure I can get a refund if it's faulty.

Im running at 1280x1024 with 4x AA and max everything else.

U running those settings on a 8800 GT ?

I'm playing the game on a 8800GTX, 4GB, Q6600 and I cant max it out like that. I have to play the game with everything on high and no AA, otherwise it slows down in the outside areas.

I think its a GT, i ordered it back in Jan so not 100% sure. Its much smaller then my brothers GTX so i think it must be a GT. As for performance, the only problem i ever have is when i accept the VATS targets, it lags for a split second between accepting and the start of the shooting. Other then that i have no problems.

The game uses the same engine as oblivion, so when i tweaked my system to get better oblivion performance, chances are them same tweaks are working for fallout as well.
