The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

Im currently utpo where you visit Rivet City, How close is this to the BoS Citadel?

Also how do i get the talon to stop ambushing me, already killed them 4-5 times when they jump me, but they just keep stalking me lol. Its getting a bit silly getting 1/2 my health lost before i even start an area.

The extra talon armors arent too bad tho ;)

I collected a load of scrap and have yet to find the water guy again after he asked me to collect the scrap.

He never seems to be at the treatment plant or the bar where I first met him.

He has the tendancy to fall to his death, walk around megaton and look under all the walkways and such. If you find his corpse you can always use the console, target the corpse and type resurrect. This will bring the character back to life, although over time he will most likely fall to his death again.

Thats what happens to good characters. Good karma players have talon members attack them, evil karma players have regulators attack them. I'm not sure if neutral characters have anyone attack them or not.

Also after you have visited rivet city for the main quest, you have about 3 or 4 more quests to do before you are at the citadel

console , resurrect? this a cheat or part of the game?

If you use the console command to resurrect people who are ment to be dead, then yes i would consider it cheating. If you use it to resurrect an NPC who died due to a bug, then I would consider that fine.

Besides; the best armour to get actually seems to be the ranger battle armour. Only 1 point less damage resistance than the power armour, gives +5 AP, +1 luck and +10 small guns. Plus, it's easy to find other armour to repair it with, since any type of combat armour will do, including talon combat armour.
I thought the T-51b Power Armor was the best armor in the game

Sure - it has +50 DR when fully repaired. But it's a unique item, so there is no way to repair it when it gets damaged. The only way is to use NPCs, who will repair to a maximum of 54%. At this level its DR is no better than regular power armour. Also, with a cost of 9999caps, it's incredibly expensive to maintain even at 54%.

Overall, the ranger battle armour is the one to go for.

Ranger battle armour is only good when using small guns. Brotherhood power armour on the other hand, the str bonus means that when wearing the armour you will have 2 more weight spare then with the ranger armour, the -2 agility only reduces AP by 4, and small guns/sneak, if you use lasers, melee or large weapons that wont matter. Plus the power armour has rad resistance. The 1 luck on the ranger battle armour is only 1% chance to crit, which isnt much.

Also later on power armour is much more available then combat armour, so repairs are easier.

It's a balance, to be sure.

But, the difference between the -2 agility power armour, and the +5AP ranger armour is 9AP, which starts to become significant.

As for the strength, I go for the 'strong back' perk, which gives you an extra 60 pounds of available weight (equivalent to 6 strength points), which gives me more than enough room for everything I might want to carry. By the time power armour is available I've got plenty of cash and have done all my scavving anyway :p Plus, buffout, booze or ant hormones can give a temporary boost if I need to carry extra stuff back home :)

Talon guys are all over the place, so there's never any shortage of combat armour (there must be 30 of them in the captiol building, and they respawn occasionally).

I guess it all comes down to what you want your character to look like. Theres not a great deal of difference between them armours. Personaly i like wearing my regulator duster that i got off one of their corpses, just a shame it lacks the DR to be usefull against some of the tougher things.

Yep - that's one of the things I like about this game; it's impossible to choose a certain set of equipment which is clearly 'the best', and similarly with the stats. It's all about complimenting your character with equipment and development.

The duster does look cool though - with manditary shades of course...

Ah, it can't be repaired by other armor, I didn't know that :(

I only have the T-51b armor for two days and hadn't thought about the repair issue, looks like I will change it to my Ranger armor I got from the Reily's Rangers mission.

I like to give it to my companion (Charon) as when he wears it it doesnt seem to degrade....also helps to keep him from dying so easily. :p

I've just installed this game and at the the 10th party scene i go to have a conversation and get no sound. I tried the tech suport which says you have to have the OGG Codec which I have on C drive.

Do you think the problem could be caused by my rig setup of C drive for OS and I have the game installed on D drive that it causing the issue?

Any ideas?

I have sound in the game apart from in conversations

What drive the game is installed on should make no difference at all. Have you made sure you are using the latest codec? only other thing i can think of at the moment would be to try and reinstall the game and see if that works.

Well after around an 8 hours straight session (where the frick did the time go?) and reaching Level 9 I now feel officially a bit too uber in this game and will probably need to make the difficulty greater. I have Charon (bless him, he's great) as my trusty sidekick filling everything with lead, and have now managed to get a sick repair skill so that most of my weapons are now at around 75-80%, which makes for some sick damage with a shotgun/minigun/missile. I also got that plasma rifle off of the guy in Rivet City for completing the android quest and that also rocks hard, though the ammo is bloody expensive at 4 caps a pop. I found the blueprint for the railgun (I used IGN, I don't mind the odd peek for games of this scale) and can't wait to build that and test it out. :D

Skills-wise I haven't really bothered with lockpick and science too much (keeping them at an 'average' 50) and am very much playing a gung-ho toughguy style game, and really enjoying it. I tend to like to stick with the hunters rifle too, makes things a bit tricker and more satisfying. Also going for a very balanced S.P.E.C.I.A.L. to keep things smooth.

Just about to start vault 112 soon... i've tried as much exploringi in between as possible but I have an itch to see more of the main quest now.

MUCH better than Oblivion for enjoyment factor imo, i'm really loving this game, especially now i've got Cheron... it doesn't feel quite as lonely. :p

After much messing about it appears that Fallout 3 does not like my onboard sound card using 5.1 setup. Problem fixed for now using stereo or 4 speaker setup.
