The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

Bought this on release and have had loads of play out of it so far doing side missions, but if I actually complete the main story line can i still progress with the side missions or will I have to start again?

You will have to start again unfortunately, i made that mistake and all my saves were from points of no return so couldnt even load up an old save and keep going :(

Give it one day...I guarantee you'll feel like a right prat for asking that question lol :p

okay, i'll take your word for that one :p i'm prob gonna play when i get in anyway :) i keep running out of ammo which is annoying. salvaged an SMG off a raider in the highschool which was an awesome find (may sound kinda lame to people who have played it for ages :p) but im easily excited lol. whats the crack with that slowdown thing? V.A.T.S? ive used it once but it wasn't very effective..

Once you finish the main missions thats it, hence why I've been avoiding them mostly as I don't want the game to 'end' once I complete those. I have a friend who accidently finished the game and was shocked at how short it was.

The expansion allows you to continue playing from where you left off though and apparently raises the level cap from 20 to 30 \o/

Its not that effective until you start gaining some reasonable stats. Even at close range you will find yourself to be missing most of your shots. I found it useful later on in the game if you had multiple enemies, it buys you time and can cripple parts of their bodies, making them less manouvreable etc.

To be honest i played most of the game with the hunting rifle which you get pretty early on, wasnt until the very end when i started getting gatling lasers and stuff regularly that i would use the bigger weapons so that SMG should do you a while yet :)

Expansion? I bought the game off steam and didn't realise there was an expansion... Or is it an unofficial expansion?

IMO you should try to use VATS as much as possible, when i sarted i tried playing without it and ended up going through so much ammo due to misses, overkill and not as accuratly targeting specif parts. As soon as i used VATS for the majority of my kills, i no longer had much of an ammo problem.

The expansion isn't out yet. There is 3 or 4 expansions planned, one of which allow play after the main story is finished.

Look up^ for a few screens :) It's an official expansion due soon. No idea when as I'm trying to avoid reading anything about it incase I run into spoilers :)

awesome! itching to get home and play it. did you guys play a bad person or a good person? i accidentally killed the women in the first house outside the vault... :/ i do have a previous save, but i dont think she's that important.

Anyone came across a problem where when yuo run the game the launcher goes into an infinite loop? ie when i hit play it just restarts the launcher and detects video settings again. Fallout3.exe just brings the launcher up also and gives the same loop. I've tried reinstalling it a few times and keep getting the same thing whether the game is patched or not.

Official forums show quite a few people having the problem but no solution was posted that i can see.

one of the best guns early in the game is the chinese assault rifle from the sheriff of megaton and when you start leveling up try to pump as much skills points to small guns or pick it as skills at the start.

Nah shes not important. I sneaked upto her and placed a grenade in her pockets. Her reaction was hilarious...then she blew up :p

Its also fun to shoot that pesky beggar who appears outside megatron asking for water. He keeps returning though and now appears outside rivet city :/

Anyone tried that extended leveler mod? As I'm approaching lvl18 and have only done as far as Rivit city as far as the story goes, having to much fun doing the side missions and exploring and still plenty to do. I would like to add that mod but not if it's going to ruin my progress so far.
