The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

PC version is the best one to get graphically + because of minimal loading times plus all the mods (you can already get a high res textures one). PC version also has the GECK toolkit free to download right now to create your own mods.

Then in the next few weeks both PC & X360 get exclusive DLC in the form of new lands to explore & missions to complete some with a snowy graphics theme.

Operation: Anchorage
Enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe - the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders. An action-packed battle scheduled for release in January.
The Pitt
Journey to the industrial raider town called The Pitt, located in the remains of Pittsburgh. Choose your side. Scheduled for release in February.
Broken Steel
Join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all. Continues the adventure past the main quest. Scheduled for release in March.

Does it crash at specific times like loading a new level?
Is your system stable?

for the 1st few hours it ran great with everything on high! But after that the FPS in some parts would drop to about 10 fps instead of about 60fps,But now it just crashes on the desktop (when i click on the desktop icon it starts then stops responding then it goes to the desktop)

Anyone know if you need to uninstall this to keep activations or can I just go ahead and format and reinstall later.

This game has been the surprise of the year for me, only got it because of low price and have enjoyed every minute of it, so glad i didn't overlook it.

Boy oh boy was this worth the wait. Racked-up 30+ hours of game time and feel like I have barely scratched the surface. I have only completed a few side quests and explored roughly 20% of the map. I'm playing with slightly reduced item degradation, slower levelling, item descriptions and increased run speed. Makes the game perfect for me :)

Graphics, quests, voice acting, characters, story, attention to detail, music, sounds, game play, battles, guns, monsters.... all of it is just superb. I have even added additional battle / exploration music, as although the existing soundtrack is excellent, I feel it could have done with some additional tracks. My only criticism :)

One of the best games ever and a real pleasant surprise.

For those who may have been put-off somewhat by the beginning of the game... persevere until you find yourself outside. Then the real game begins. Although I personally liked the beginning.

Oh and to top it off, the random encounters really add to the atmosphere and enjoyment. Here’s some friendly advice for new players… try not to fast-travel all the time and be sure to spend time exploring (you will be rewarded).... otherwise you’ll miss cool stuff

I'm not entirely sure why some reviews criticised the game for feeling empty... I have encountered plenty of creatures and people, both hostile and non-hostile, whilst exploring the wasteland. Sure, it does feel quite cold and barren out there... but it's a post-apocalyptic environment for crying out loud, it's hardly going to be teeming with activity and life! :D

thanks for the mini review, its good! i've yet to fire this game up yet. im really looking forward to it. felt a bit let down by games recently (farcry 2 :( ) so i'm hoping this will be good and cheer me up! :)

lol, yeah, kind of went off on one there :p

FarCry 2? What's that?! :D Oh yeah, haven't touched that since Fallout 3. It just pales in comparison. I'm not directly comparing them but I just can't see myself playing it now, not with Fallout 3, DeadSpace and the end of STALKER to keep myself occupied with!

Enjoy! Say goodbye to any spare time you may have! Even if you only intend to play for half-an-hour or so, it'll suck you in :D

Don't suppose anyones got a savegame from just before the final battle they could send me?

I've been doing a few upgrades but I forgot to keep my savegames for testing :(

My video card is an 8800GTS OC and I've been having a lot of crashes - usually totally at random, but also particularly when entering or leaving a building. I spent several hours browsing the Bethesda forums trying to find a solution.

Some people have reported increased stability from adjusting the number of CPU cores the game uses while others with AMD chips have reported success by running a bit of software made by AMD called Core Optimizer or something similar - my chip's an Intel E6600 so didn't really pay it much attention - will try and find a link ...

Personally, the only thing that has made Fallout 3 run stable on my machine is to run it windowed rather than full-screen - since then it hasn't crashed once. Running it windowed is no biggie to be honest and is just about the only thing that has spoiled my enjoyment of an otherwise superb, incredibly atmospheric game.

just got out of the vault. im supposed to find the next town "megaton"? im not sure where it is, ive just cleared out the highschool. any tips on finding the town? its dark so i cant see much apart from annoying molerats. :p

Give it one day...I guarantee you'll feel like a right prat for asking that question lol :p

Well, this has become my 2008 GOTY knocking Gears 2 to No.2. I am hooked and can't stop playing. I've knocked in around 44hrs+ and only just found Galaxy News radio just a few days ago - and that was after it took me a week to find Rivet City! I have just hit Lv20 though but can't stop exploring. Found a town last night that had bee ravaged by a small group of Deathclaws - it was my first experience with them and the hunter became the hunted many times...

I also found Vault 92 last night and ventured in...every minute in that place was eerie not to mention scary. It was quite startling returning back to the very same looking environment that you were born in.
