***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

Probably plenty but they are just being stupid, there was too much of that when original Crysis came out. I would rather a game was so impressive that no current PC can max it than it being scaled back so everyone can play it.

I don't know about you but I don't like owning games and having to wait years before the hardware has caught up to be able to play it.

What's the point.

Look at the amount bitching at Brink.

I mean the fact that this game was DX9 only to begin with was total bull****

It was still very good.

Edit: My god I sound just like Raven...but its a good point, any "AAA" PC game that is DX9 only should be ringing alarm bells.

You honestly sound a very unhappy person. :) To be honest I don't know who's worse these days, gamer critics or movie critics. The rage sounds all the same now that nothing pleases them.

The point is it means that things are progressing. What is the point in hardware increasing with Moore's Law and software just sitting there twiddling its thumbs?

Yes it looked good for a DX9 game but honestly what is the point when the vast majority of your audience can (and would like to) benefit from their updated hardware? Why would a developer, who made a name for themselves developing incredible looking games, not want to use the technology that is readily avaliable and widely used, to make their game look absolutely stunning?

Yes it's good that things progress but... there was no balance with Crysis. It's so bad when software progresses too far when the hardware takes years to catch up. The software was sitting twiddling it's thumbs as you put it because it took a long time for the hardware to catch up. It was one of the main reasons I never bought Crysis until April this year.

I haven't forgotten the threads on so many forums people bitching at the low frame rate back then. Especially after blowing £4xx- £5xx on a new graphic card that still can't quite cut it. Compared to today.

While this was true people still whined where is it... and when it is out they whine. I'm sure so many of them will whine with something in relation to DX11.

I don't know, money does weird things with people... and rushing, cutting corners...

True if I had bought a 580 sli I would expect to be able to max every game at 1920x1080 or even 2560x1600 and get good fps, but only having a single card I would not be suprised to find games that gave me poor performance at maximum settings and higher resolutions, anyone expecting anything else is being unreasonable.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. Thats pretty much where Crytek were at, either due to EA or their own poor decisions.

I think they could have easily made the pc version be released with DX11 + hi res texture e.t.c . It is all in the engine anyway.

I think the only reason they did it was so the console version wasnt seen as inferior and ugly in comparison.

Now all the console players are bored with it and on to the next thing, they can safely release this graphics upgrade without affecting console sales.

I don't get this viewpoint? What the hell is wrong with console gamers? Same problem as when the BF3 PS3 footage was show. Uproar that the PC version should look so much better. Are they living in cuckoo land? Is it backwards day?

We always knew that CryEngine 3 was capable of much more than what is seen in crysis2 atm:D.

Oh well I still don't have crysis 2 yet so it will be a nice gaming experience for me heeeheee when I buy game in near future with this DX11 features :D

All those poor sods who have already played crysis2 and can't be bothered with DX11:p
