More likely to let people get them earlier so the download hosts aren't swamped on release of the patch.

either way im glad they have actually stuck to they're word and releasing it. Some companies might have just left it and not bothered so perhaps they deserve a little credit for this. Now if they can just release a make this an awesome game patch it'll be fine.....

I thought this game was taken off of Steam? This would mean no updates right? Also if was to delete Crysis 2 of my computer, I wouldn't be able to redownload it right?

I presume you would put your key into E.A's Origin and play it from there.

on the steam forums they say that they will get updates but no new sales of crysis2 on steam

What was the situation exactly?
Would installing these packs make the game not work until the patch is released next week?
If so, that is quite a balls up!

I was half way through downlaoding them, but had to stop for a restart.

Yes, it was a balls up.

Proves nothing. It's more likely they hosted the files till other hosts got them then removed the links. That mycrysis site routinely goes down at the drop of a hat, was down for ages because of traffic when the demo came out and it had to be rebuilt.

I highly doubt the DX11 patch will make a HUGE difference to be honest. From everything I've read about this game, some people claim the original looks better, others say that they're similar, some say that Crysis2 looks a bit better. I've never seen anyone claim that Crysis 2 is significantly better though.

All that and the original ran on DX9, yes there was a DX10 patch, but you get the DX9 version to look identical to the DX10 one. So I doubt that this patch will add anything significant to the visuals. I'm much more interested in what cool visual mods people will be coming up with when crymod is back online properly.

I am guessing that it will knock me down to high spec from extreme?

I will see what its like on other peoples system, before installing myself
