The Day of the Jackal

Pretty much what I'm thinking - I like the Redmayne scenes, both his home life and as an assassin, but the Bianca storyline is extremely poorly written and that drags the series down far more than it should be compared with the quality of Redmayne's scenes.

Yeh. It's almost like the two parts were directed and written by two different groups/departments.

I just think the casting is all wrong for the British intelligence people. Needed stronger actors.

Watched the first 3. It's alright. Not as good as it thinks it is.

I don't find any of the actors particularly good. Redmayne is about as convincing an assassin as Liz Truss was prime minister.

I'll keep watching though. It's fine.

Watched all 5 episodes.
Scene in latest episode is almost frame by frame mirror from the excellent original film, including clothing which was sort of neat. Enjoying the modern take on the story.

We are up to episode 4 now

It's a bit silly, but watchable.

The Northern Irish guy conveniently escaping from armed police by jumping onto a passing barge to the other side of the river.

And then somehow tracking down the home of an MI6 agent? What? Maybe that's explained in episode 5?

I've seen the trailers for this about 6 times this week and each time it looks worse....
The day of the jackal is a classic.
These actors are not right for these characters and the whole cliche girl boss thing with her is beyond cringe.
It looks like a modern James bond for amateur actors.

There's nothing particular girl boss about Lashana Lynchs character, as she's not portrayed as some sort of expert in all things

I had issues with episode 7 though

They make everyone go through a body scanner and security is really tight, but some random man with a gun manages to get up on the side of the stage?

Haha you do know Eddie Redmayne has won an Oscar. Wouldn’t exactly call him an amateur actor.

Caught the original, watching Richard gere forget hes playing an irish after 10 minutes:D

Mr Willis made an awesome bad guy though, if it wasnt for him wouldn't have bothered but good movie and looking forward to the tv series and season 2.

Redmayne is fantastic but I wouldn’t say he was a perfect match for the role.

Agree that Bianca and the MI5 stuff brought things down a bit.

Otherwise a fairly decent watch.
