The Dell 3008WFP Thread

K , just for you buddy I did a quick pic

1. It was taken in afternoon with curtains closed ( so doesnt look as bad as it does in the evenings )

2. It was taken using my carpy camera phone ( so res is not great )

The areas in question.
a. Lower right ( draw an arc from corner out to about 8 inches )
b. Upper right ( draw an arc from corner out to about 5 inches )
c. Just left of top Center ( draw an arc from corner out to about 3 inches )
d. Top left ( draw an arc from corner out to about 3 inches )

On another note , I bought my of OCuk for 1050 inc vat , look how the price has jumped up !!
Glad I bought it when I did :-)

Exactly the same place as mine mate, I've not watched any movies on it as yet but last night set the desktop to black and it was like you say quite noticeable especially against the 2007 that's sat next to it (portrait). I'm unsure as to if i should also contact Dell because if they are replacing yours they clearly think its a fault. Can you elaborate on what was said when you spoke to them ?

Edit, some guy over HardForum has a rather Heath Robinson solution to it (ill give it a go later)

Hmm yes mine has this problem too, in the lower right corner mainly, and upper right to a lesser degree. I wasn't sure if the bottom right is actually the on-button LED shining through?

Its a bit dissapointing, especially as I ended up buying the screen at the inflated price (I THOUGHT (but wasn't sure) it had gone up a lot the day I ordered it, typical :( )

Edit: Oh my, just read that thread on hardform LOAM, couldn't understand what they were talking about. I pressed the lower right corner, and the screen seemed to suddenly push in (and stick) 1mm or so, and the problem is 75% fixed! Thanks so much for the link, I'm happy again :D

I have a 3008WFP and i'm on my second replacement no 3

The REV A00 has 2 major problems that i can see, although this maybe just bad luck and the two i received, but they are back light bleed and a badly fitting bezel surround. On my first REV A00 the bezel had popped out which I thought was damaged, although the screen was perfect no amount of fiddling would sort it and there was definitly no shipping damage. The second REV A00 had backlight bleed from the bezel itself again at the top right in the middle and at the top of the panel, on closer inspection this also had a badly fitted bezel. It's looks like it's not clicked in properly and could not be fixed more worrying it also gave a very slight backlight bleed at the top of the panel, although this was slight and was not cause for me to return it on it's own merit. I'm concerned that if the bezel's aren't fitting properly potential damage is caused to the panel, so anyway that went back

I have now just received a new 3008WFP REV A01 replacement which is ok the bezel issue is certainly resolved although i haven't had a chance to set it up properly as yet. In any event the desireability is somewhat dimished as i'm expecting this to be less than perfect.

I will post later re the screen.

I had to wait 7 days for a replacement not because of a new model replacement but because Dell do not have stock to replace.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread tbh, I had a right play about with my panel last night and I agree the bezel fit is total garbage for a £1000+ screen. I've more or less eliminated 90% of the back light bleed by killing a bit of Gamma / brightness and Contrast (3008 is insanly bright imho) and also slipped a fingernail piece of card into the surround adjacent to the top bleed area.

The other thing I cant work out is if its more to do with glare and viewing angle than actual bleed because if you move a significant distance away it more or less vanishes (with the exception of the top middle bit, hence the card fix).

All in all though a tad disappointed now but will see how your results from your returns go before going down that route.

Hmm I'll be interested to hear how you get on too Sallermas. I agree, on screen which cost me more than £1100, I want it to be pretty much perfect, and it certainly is far from that, although now I've wiggled the bevel a bit with my finger its got a lot better, and I'm borderline whether I can be bothered to return it for something could be no better (or even worse, as mine appears to be dead-pixel free).

Also agree that the size of the screen is a significant factor in seeing the bleed - if you move to be perpendicular to the screen at the edges (with a black background), the bleed is almost non-visible. Black backgrounds also make the fault so much more visible, but I like dark backgrounds to prevent glare anyway. Humbugs.

This is my first ever post to OC.uk, Welcome All.

I feel sorry for all you guys that are having problems with this monitor, i have just upgraded from a crap computer to having, ASUS rampage formula mother board, a Q6600 chip, 9800GTX (superclocked already) and one of these 30" dell bad boys and was playing stalker last night on 2560x1600 and it was amazing.......
I am D/Loading crysis today while at work (never played it before) and have been itching to get home and play it. I recon it will be 10 times better than stalker.
Dell hats of to you guys, this monitor is sweet as ****. Still trying to get my Blue-Ray working on it (driver problem) but will let you know how it looks on this monitor when i get it working.

I will post some pics when I get a chance, I'm actually not looking forward to setting it up with the expectation of another problem although like you say looks like Dell "Cleaned" REV A00's and are now shipping rev A01's

I noticed they pulled it from the site today also

Any guesses as to whether there's a new revision on the way?
If so, why would Dell remove the whole product from their website?
Maybe they are having quality issues (bevel, backlight) and are putting sales on hold until they are resolved..

There is a new revision it's A01 the first batches were A00, I'm not sure if theres's anything further, Cosmectically this A01 is perfect and perfect bezel fit.

Its also a case of the new revision was shipped out (seemingly) before -or as - it was removed which suggests to me there is another problem which we arent aware of

damn just ordered one ,from a competitor sorry but £200 cheaper
so will i get a rev a01 or if not should i cancel order tomro

I`m very interested in this screen but for me, im not in any hurry to purchase it right now. I`m waiting until the end of this year anyways, when i`ll be getting my new computer system. I do hope by then with new firmware updates, the little problems with this screen should be fixed.

Continue, see what you get / think, form reading round Dell are realy good on the RMA front. Having messed about now with the settings on mine (and slipping 1 piece of car in) i'm now 100% chuffed with it. Back light bleed is all but gone cept for a really small bit at the top.
