The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Damn, just realised even if I do get an early PC copy, I can't play it until the game unlocks on Steam and the data from the disc install is updated :(

What email :D

Even if Game have posted it, they have probably told the courier not to deliver it until the 11th, though good luck if they havnt :)

Whoops, the* :P

Yeah, you're probably right.

it wont matter as you wont be able to play it until the release date anyway and as bhav says you will need a sandybridge cpu to even get a decent frame rate

Mine's been despatched too. Should be here on the 11th then :)

That's not decent customer service. Sending a mass email to everyone who bought product 'x'.

As long as my order arrives on time, or at least arrives (concerning GAME) I dont care about an email telling me they're billing me a week before release.

Try contacting them when you have a problem.
Twice now I have pre-ordered from GAME only for them to email me on release that they have cancelled my pre-order. I then contact them to ask why and they don't respond or even apologise.

Personally I've not had a problem so can't comment on that and therefore didn't, I was just commenting on the experience I have had so far and trying to explain to someone why they might have taken his money already. I was pleased they let me know why the money might be taken early and that they are taking steps to make sure the CE's get to people on release day, which is when they are supposed to.

Ordered.. nice one folks for the code!
Also says - Despatched: to Arrive for Day of Release

Anyway, should keep me busy for the next few months. Haven't bought Battlefield 3 yet - primarily as not available on Steam, secondly cant play 2 games at once. Will Look forward to getting on the Battlefield soon!

Expand? How come SB needed (I mean I don't mind, I have SB xD) but why are we looking at CPU reliant rather than GPU?

I don't know why you people don't buy it from Steam, make yourselves worried if you can play it or not for days over an extra £5 and a map. What's the point =x

I was thinking my trusty quad core Q6700 and 5850 Vapor-X are perfect for this game, I'm pretty sure you don't need a sandy bridge to play this at a decent frame rate.
The only fly in the ointment for me was when Bethesda announced it was a 6 gig game, maybe my worries are unfounded.
Then i saw this on the Bethesda blog, that no doubt someones already mentioned here:
Updated: We’ve seen plenty of comments relating to the game only requiring six gigs of HDD space. Don’t worry… there’s still a ton of game in there. The total HDD space relates more to the compression opitmizations we’re able to do with The Creation Engine. Not only are do we think you’ll be impressed with how the game looks, but also how much faster it runs..

because its cheaper? GAME will never let anyone down anyway its the sites like tesco and asda which fail to estimate the demand or arent as high up the chain when it comes to getting supplies

No I didnt you ****.

Stop misquoting what I say in other threads.

lol, you don't need Sandybridge to be able to play the game. What a load of rubbish.

Indeed, something which I never said!

Anyway, on another note .... what skills is everyone planning to base their character around ? Normally I go down the route of magic, but I'm liking the visceral feel of melee combat in the videos/streams I've seen thus far. Might roll with a battlemage, or a bow user with dual wield for melee, and some magic for buffs/enchants.

Battlemages will be weak in Skyrim - you get a 50% magic penalty in heavy armor, and it doesnt improve with perks.

Equipping any robe even without enchants grants you 25% faster magicka regen. Stats on robes are also going to boost magic players a lot more this time around.

Also, alteration has a perk that causes your defensive spells to last for double duration if you are unarmored.

Sorry:

Mage Armor 30 Protection spells like Stoneflesh are twice as strong if not wearing armor. (3 ranks)
Magic Resistance 30 Block 10% of a spell's effects. (3 ranks)
Stability 70 Alteration spells have greater duration.
Atronach 100 Absorb 30% of the magicka of any spells that hit you.

I'm going to playing a pure mage maxing out Alteration and all its perks first.

I was thinking battlemage as well!

Not even something like a sorceror would be able to get benefits of heavy and magic? In which case I might go for a more non-aggro mage with warrior due to the Skyrim Nordic theme. Quite tempted to go for a Nord character as well - would be unusual for me!

I'll wait and see what it offers though!
