The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Morrowind just had a point where you went from 'NPCs murder me without even trying' to 'Murdering NPCs without even trying'. Wasn't anything to with the weapon type, there was just a point in the game where NPCs suddenly became no longer a threat. At least Oblivion seemed to balance NPCs better.

Still no real information on perks...

Have to say the whole thing sounded very 'political'. "Can you make custom spells?" "I'll answer that question by telling you something else you can do, implying no but not actually stating the negative".

I'm sure people will be glad to see this bit, hidden away at the end:

IGN: Will the PC version support DirectX 11?

Todd Howard: Yes, but I guess the real question here is do we take advantage of DX11's big new features and the answer is 'not specifically'. Our graphics work centers around doing things that will look the same regardless of platform, and sometimes that implementation will be different on the 360, PS3, and PC.

Isn't that a contradiction ><

I really hope Skyrim is optimized better than Oblivion, still can get some stuttering near NPC's and normal areas on very powerful setups, and going through all the tweaks is just retardedly long and boring

We will see.

I hope that the game is not a console port, and is developed for the PC community first!

That would ensure performance.

guys i havnt been following skrim at all but is this going to be a brand new engine? im looking at the pictures and it seems just like a heavily edited version of the engine they used in oblivion/FO3

it is a "heavily modified" gamebryo engine. personally i never believe the "brand new engine" BS spouted by developers it would be to costly and time consuming for them to start again with a brand new engine

i just hope they modify it enough so most of the problems with OB/FO3 doesn't make it to skyrim

Skyrim will mos definitely run on a new engine, at least thats what the devs said. If they ran the same engine FO3/Oblv ran on, they would lose a large chunk of PC gamers due to the crappiness of the engine. It was unstable and basically, crap.

i can guarantee you it wont be a new engine you can see from the 2nd trailer and the screens its still gamebryo

also when the game was first announced they said it was a heavily modified gamebryo engine but after a negative response they went back and changed it and said it was "brand new"

but i dont doubt they have improved it enough so it doesnt look like total crap but i guess we wont know for sure until we see some proper gameplay footage
