That's the reward for a Daedric quest, the name of which escapes me.

I'm getting bummed by various quests... does this game work like WoW or similar where sometimes you just need to level a bit before you can complete them?

there is no "final end". the game has infinite quests, the system randomly generates them from various NPC's so you can play forever if you so wish.
Depends on your style of play. Sneak bow attacks can overcome just about anything no matter how powerful. Illusion magic seems to be able to handle almost anything that isn't undead, daedra or automaton (till you get the lvl90 perk). Regular destruction magic will struggle without Impact and still suffer against multiple enemies. Regular melee combat will suffer till it has the armour rating to give it some durability and magic will be a problem without resistances.

One question i do have is what is the point in all the food and making them into meals.. it seems they quickly became a waste of time as my alchemy improved.. is there no way to improve the effects ?
