The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Lol, that thing reaches the armour cap on its own. Little too much alchemy/enchanting/smithing abuse me thinks :p

Don't think you can learn that enchantment.

How are people distributing their points on melee focused characters? 50/50 Health/Stamina or more heavily weighted towards Health?

Probably 75% to stamina for me. Mainly to get the +5 carry weight each time I leveled up :D.

yeh can someone explain to me whats the point and why you disenchant weapons/armor?

Also how do you do alcemy, you have to mi ingrdietns but where do you get the recipes?

I test herbs out and it tells me what it does but when I come to make 2-3 ingredients mix it often does ntohing.

Have you actually tried figuring ANYTHING out for yourself on this game

Enchanting, as Farangar tells you if you ask him about it. You need to disenchant items to learn the enchantment to apply it to others.

Alchemy, as Arcadia tells you, you have to figure out the bloody things yourself. You can eat an ingredient once to learn the first effect, or more if you take the Experimenter perk. You learn them if you successfully create a potion from random combinations. You can get recipe's from alchemists though they are rarely any use (and in at least two cases, wrong). There are also some alchemy books which give you hints so long as you read them yourself.

On the subject of books. Has anyone been reading the books they come across? Some of them are pretty good. Also decided to read those Lusty Argonian Maid books. My god the innuendo's hurt your eyes :D

I went 50/50 magicka/health, added to stamina later on in the game, didn't use power attacks that much, I prefer sword and shield. Really wish there was a bound shield spell :).

Yeah no bind armour spells at all this time which is a shame. Seems they replaced em entirely with the Oakflesh type spells.

I'd quite like Bind Dagger instead of only Bind Sword.

However most of all I'd like Bind Pickaxe :p

Well I finally got Skyrim and glad I can max it out at 60 fps....

Looks stunning, and awesome game of course! :D

Can't wait to have a proper play tomorrow!

At the start I was but it became a case of too much game and not enough time. I also found that about half way through a lot of them I was catching myself thinking 'wait, haven't I read this one before...'

if the only game I played was skyrim Id read a lot of books and learn a lot about things such as enchatment etc.

but nevermind life I have 10 other video games on the go and like to play online games etc....

If I only had Skyrim and no other life I sure would read all the books and make the game my life but I dont have time for that.

When I was a kid and played turent att school id play final fantasy 7 all day long and night, it was my life....and championship manager as it was called but now I cant commit that time.

I've mostly only read skill books but there are some others that I felt like looking at. Not all of them obviously but some of the more interesting looking ones. The Night Mother one is quite good, and ones like Black Arrow too. The Alchemy ones tend to be quite handy since some give hints on what sort of effects some ingredients have.

Decided to go back onto my melee character. So far I've stuck to fighting Bandits (and just gone to join the Imperials and did the 'pre-sign up' quest) and its been going smoothly even if it is now on Master. All except for the Bandit Chief who was wielding a bloody Elven Dagger yet still hit like a truck.

Also it seems theres a reason why I never noticed any benefit from Vegetable Soups health regen... it doesn't seem to work. I stacked a Beef+Venison Stew and a Vege Soup (I need more Norker Meat to make a stew from that) and checked the active effects and only one entry was listed for Vegetable Soup and regen only seemed to be 1 per second. Still, even with the maximum 3 health regen and 4 stamina regen it still seems to be a bit ineffective in anything but long fights against weaker foes.

I'm happy with light armour, I haven't enchanted any yet just wearing whatever I've found in chests etc. It is a bit feeble, elven, but in close combat with harder foe I tend to use the time slow shout in conjunction with flames from the left hand and waft dragonbane around hopefully with the right.

Before you do, make sure you pay the mod thread a little visit. If you think it looks stunning now, wait until you install some of the mods out there ;)

Does anybody else really regret choosing light armour? It seems to offer no advantages late in the game

eh? since I was about level 40 or so I switched from Heavy to Light and wear it exclusively now.. I wear the pre-made sets (Nightingale, TDB etc) mostly, and find it absolutely fine. whether I am sneaking or tanking a boss, no issues. I have improved these sets but never bothered to smith/enchant light armour as I did with the Heavy.
At end game you should be killing anything in 1 or 2 hits, so armour rating is hardly needed. I rather be able to carry a better variety of armour & weapons to suit circumstances, and I couldnt do that with heavy.

If you're playing a sneaky character and now at end-game on Adept is that hardly surprising? Mine was wearing Light TDB armour but eventually replaced it and now he's not even wearing that, Ebony Gauntlets (of Archery), Glass Boots (of Carrying), Krosis' Mask and Cicero's Clothes, 1 heavy 2 light 1 unarmoured, and he can take the odd melee hit but no way can he stand up to much and I can't see that changing at end-game. If you don't put any perks into them you won't see much difference at all bar the weight. The armour they give without perks or smithing improvements is almost negligible.

Does anyone know what Skill path you need to take to upgrade enchanted weapons? I'm stuck with a load of weapons with hit points still only between around 25 - 30, which is causing more than a few problems now I'm playing at Level 25/26.

Or is it a case of forging new "ordinary" weapons, maxxing the upgrade then taking them to the enchanter?

Also, how do I get a Blades sword (katana) to appear in the list of weapons I can craft?

TVM.
