The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Well, completed the main storyline last night. It's just... the fight was so uninvolving. After coming from playing the demo of Kingdoms of Amalur, to doing melee combat in Skyrim, I felt a sense of tedium with the way combat is handled. It was just click click click, with no real involvement. And I'm sad about that as it's really dimmed my view of Skyrim for some reason, and I hate that fact. :(

You mean getting the modding community to fix their game for them? :)

Every game Bethsoft launch is pretty much a beta tbh. :p

But at least they've been named & shamed into implementing stuff that should have been there in the first place!

Guess you'll be wanting the Deadly Reflexes mod that was on Oblivion. Assuming its coming out for Skyrim that is, though I don't see why it wouldn't be.

I have just been playing Kingdoms of Amalur(you get bonus ME3 items) and that is exactly how I would describe its combat!

Lol, i realised that as soon as I said it :p What i was trying to say is that Amalurs combat seemed more involving, with the delays between clicks etc depending on what attack type you wanted and so on.

I just picked up a book in the thieves guild called 'Shadowmarks' authored by Delvin Mallory. You know, that cockney thief down there in the ragged flagon. Very cool book.

Pretty neat the way it..
has a glossary of markings (with drawings of the symbols) that are carved on doorframes or structures next to buildings around skyrim, or nearby to fences that buy stolen goods. Basically alerts you in advance which buildings are worth looting, not worth looting, danger inside so turn away, shouldn't be entered at all because it's under the guild's protection, escape routes from prisons, and things like that. Now I'm noticing all these carvings at various places, and saves me wasting time lockpicking, or it tells me if it's worth lockpicking
:)

If you want the location:

Go to the secret entrance of the thieves guild where the small cemetery is, press the button on the grey coffin to slide it open, enter the ragged flagon cistern. Go straight over the bridge and it's a blue covered book on the table to your right.

Lol :p

Not quite as accurate as the dragons and giants comic strip though.

Seems a bit weird to be testing out an update as a beta... but then I guess it is supposed to be improving the fps over a huge range of specs so its probably the best way to test it.

I've not had any problems with framerate since I dropped my resolution down to 1600x900 and other than that I don't think I've really ran into any bugs so I'll pass. Don't wanna risk breaking my mods, albeit the very small number I use.

Did you see my icewraith video on the previous page? Made it especially for you. :p I'm sure you're managing just fine, but I thought I'd make the video anyway.

Has anyone managed to max smithing without going down the iron daggers / smithing route? I've managed to get it to level 80 without resorting to cheesy tactics, but it seems to be giving diminishing returns now.

I asked this a few weeks ago, and the answer was no, but I was wondering if someone had worked out a way to reset skillpoints so I can reassign them to different skills without having to create a new character? Is it possible yet?

You could probably do it through the console. Would be a royal pain in the nipsy, mind. It might also be worth seeing if there's a mod out for it, but I don't know of one.

there is a console command, that can remove perks that you have used, then you just re-use them where you want.

It's always been possible. Just google it and you will find out how ;).

You cant reset as such, but you can remove and add.

EDIT: Too slow xD

You made a video with top-end gear and enchantments... it was hardly relevant. At lvl20 I had trouble with 1 Draugr Scourge. Now at lvl38 I'm doing the main quest and have had fights with 5 at once and survived without any real problems even if it does take a good 10-15 seconds to kill one.

I'd considered it but once I realised how much longer it was starting to take towards higher levels I just stuck with Daggers. It was kinda stupid that you get no more experience for making something out of Ebony than you do Iron and no more experience for improving a Daedric Sword to Legendary than you do from an Iron Dagger to Epic.

For 95-100 I just used the Oghma Infinium because I was getting bored of spamming out daggers and it was taking something like 10 per level by that point.
