The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

I also got all of the Dragon masks by asking Arngier where words of power were as MoratJG says (apart from the last one in the main quest).

Cheers. I'll speak to him again for more words. I can't recall how I got the masks of morokei and hevnoraak, might have been from letters from friends. Very weird, I just checked lydia's inventory and both those masks were not there anymore! I've had them for weeks. Checking my save games, they were both there yesterday just before I did a temporary "it's time for us to part ways" prior to the final stormcloak battle, but in my next save game 8 hours later, she doesn't have them anymore, only the humming wooden mask. No idea what that's all about.

Has anyone else has duplicate quests? I have already done the quest of the legend of red eagle, but for some reason the quest started again.

Also today I started another quest again by entering the museum that I have already done.

Yep I had the very same thing with the red eagle sword quest, two quests for the same thing.

Btw, I see what others mean by Blackreach size. I've done the main quest there which didn't take long to get to. But I'm now exploring the rest and it's absolutely immense, like a whole city in itself.

Presuming you're using the PC, you can actually spawn the masks with console if you've genuinely lost them - a bit cheaty, but if you had them and they've bugged out, it might be a good way out...

I forgot to add that yes, I had respawned them with the player.additem codes.
But yeah, genuinely lost them, except the humming wooden mask which was still there.

Just started a new game(my second) and chose Breton, and instantly regretted it! I always say I am gonna use magic, but end up reverting to mele;)

I am tempted to try out two-handed, but as i want to be a bit sneaky I will probably go for one-handed again.

I think I will focus on One-handed, Archery, Sneak, Speechcracft, destruction and illusion. Plus I will consider pickpocket. Gonna leave smithing, but might dabble in alchemy.

Thats why I tried out the Balanced Magic mod. Its too weak late game and the combat regeneration reduction is just meh. Even if you drop every level up into Magicka you never have enough to take on even a lone high-tier foe before running out.

Yep, you're pretty much forced into melée it seems in the standard game. Magic is ok for dual-cast one-shotting weak enemies or taking a bit of health off to begin with on stronger ones, but nothing beats sword+shield IMO.

Quite enjoying my new sneaky character in all honesty. Backstab is amazing.

Are there any other games that are similar to Skyrim?

Looking for an open world game similar to skyrim, where you can level up and fight foes with swords etc.

Oblivion and Morrowind for a start;)

I do have Balanced Magic installed as well, but I am not far enough in to notice much difference tbh. Is it worth it?

I am looking at this as well - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5898

53. You're probably expecting me to be like level 80 or something right? :p

Higher than my 46 in 90 hours :)

I've still got loads to do on this game, but am thinking I might make a Nordic or Orc, Heavy Armoured brute. Probably throw some smithing in. But basically something that rushes and destroys, and can tank basically anything.

I've not played much lately but it increases the damage by enough to make weaker spells more effective and stronger spells that bit more powerful. Plus the combat regen and dual cast properties are a bit more reasonable for longer battles and Master spells are actually castable.

End of the day, physical damage is totally broken because of how easy it is to become extremely powerful. Bows can easily hit for 300-500+ with a sneak attack. Swords can easily do 60-100 damage a hit later on. While your expert spells were stuck at 90 max and cost far too much to be used without serious abuse of cost x% less mods and Master spells were just useless because the cast time.

I really don't understand how it's possible to get to level 46 in 90 hours, were you snorting speed? :D Also, what difficulty level are you and have you not bothered much with anything much other than knocking out the main quests?

Btw, finished Blackreach last night, absolutely incredible place, so vast it's jaw dropping. But now, I just found out about
fus roh dah'ing the orange globe to get a dragon to appear
so I'm going back in!

I found blackreach last night too, kept saying 'wow' to myself, wonderful place, spent hours down there, it really felt other-worldly.

Excellent, but it isn't free-roaming like Skyrim.

Oblivion can still look god with mods, but it takes some work, and still isn't a patch on Skyrim.

Ahh thanks. I think I might check it out anyway. Also the Witcher looks good. Although still not free roaming i don't think :(. Will just have to ait another 5 years for the next ES game :p.

I did look at some modding guides for Oblivion but it goes way over my head and I don't have the patience to sit down and read about it.

Yep, other worldly for sure. I..
..collected all the crimson nirnroots last night, never thought I'd find all of them, certainly took a good hour

When you see blackreach mapped out, it's pretty incredible how they put it all together. http://images.uesp.net/a/ad/SR-map-Blackreach.jpg

I just went back in to blackreach and did the
orange globe/dragon secret
Then I studied that map and wasn't sure if I'd done raldbthar deep market. So I went there, entered it, but came to a dead end, a brick wall literally. So I left blackreach, went to raldbthar from the skyrim entrance, and recognised that I'd done it, at least some of it. Then I realised I hadn't done all of it for some reason and eventually got to those puzzle cogs and the machine for the attuning sphere which opened up a gap next to that wall and put me back where I first got stuck in blackreach. Ah, it's all so clever :D

My game is bugged unfortunately:( At least I wasn't far in though. The main quest "Dragon Rising" will not start and none of the console commands will work, apparently people are recommending a restart:(

So I am going to restart and I think I will focus a bit more on magic and really try and make it work. gonna start focussing on destruction and then move a bit in to illusion and conjuration. Other than that I will put a bit in to speech, sneak and one-handed(have to tbh)

That is 6 main skill trees, what is the best manageable number do you think? Could I fit another in, asI would like to do a bit of archery also

Also, what would be the best race for a pur(ish) mage, I am thinking Breton or High Elf?

Cheers
