The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Damn main quest bugged for me now. Diplomatic Immunity quest, at the Thalmor Embassy, can't talk to anyone. So can't create the distraction to proceed. :(

Isn't it the drunk guy on the bench?

Just can't talk to anyone, press E to talk and they talk a bit, but not in the conversation window, where you have the options to say stuff. Also when you enter the embassy the Thalmor woman should talk to you, but she doesn't.

I tried using the setstage to advance it. I looked here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Diplomatic_Immunity to find the stage number in the table at the bottom. But when I try and use setstage mq201 55 or 60, says stage does not exist. And setstage 50 does nothing..

There are also no other guests at the party, only the drunk guy is there.

this command lists all your current/active quests (by 'id' so look them up on uesp or elsewhere to find out which is which, some are 'obvious' from the initials, some not).

sqs <questid>
this lists all the stages and a 1 if the stage is complete and a 0 if it is not, so you can 'step through' stages from your current position to a later one (better than leapfrogging multiple stages at once)

So if you do "sqs mq201" it should give you a short numeric table of stages and their status of completedness, see if that helps you find the correct value(s). You could also try a "resetquest mq201" and then advancing the stages back up from the beginning to see if it fixes any holes in your current progression of the quest.

I suggest never using these commands without first doing a proper save of the game; it is possible to bug yourself even more when using them incorrectly.

I was doing the Companion's quests and on one of them a guy would be my follower, on that quest. Since then Lydia stoped following me, and now I can't find her.

Cheers for the help. Used that sqs command and stepped through the stages it showed. Guess that table on the wiki site is wrong or I'm reading it wrong. Had to use tcl command to clip through a door as well. Quest completed now :)

Lydia will either be in your house, or sitting down at a table in dragonsreach, or possibly in jorvalskrr (companions HQ). If you can't find her, put this in your console and it'll teleport you to her.

Really enjoying Illusion now, I think I will definitely go for most of the perks in Illusion and Conjuration, though I am not too bothered about the higher summons tbh, so might not get all of the conjuration perks, all of the illusion perks look handy though.

Gonna use a few alteration perks as well I think and I have already put a few in restoration.

Doing the thieves Guild quests now and then I will do the Mages, then the Companions, not going to bother with The DB

quick question

just bopught the game on dvd, why am i now downloading via steam ?
at silly slow speeds too

whats on the dvd if im having to download via steam???

iirc you have to set something up so that it reads from the disc, try Googling it, sorry I'm heading out now so can't link it but someone else might be able to. There is a guide

If the normal method doesn't work then:

Using Steam launch options to install retail games from disc
Log in to Steam and click on Library.
Right-click on the game, select Delete local content, and confirm.
Insert the first disc into your computer.
Close Steam (Steam > Exit).
Press Windows Key + R to open Run
In the Run window type: "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install E:

Replace E: with the CD/DVD drive you are installing from if is not correct. Replace C:\Program Files\Steam if your Steam installation is not in the default location. Press OK. Steam will launch and ask you to sign in if you do not have your password saved. Your installation should continue from the disc.
