The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

and then when you're done with that, a good ENB overlay. By far the largest improvement graphically, almost a different game. If you need any help setting it up, message back.

Im currently using the HD textures off Steam, are there any better ones on Nexus?

I have the realistic lighting, footprints, travellers and sky UI installed so far.

Plenty in the official skyrim thread i'm sure :p

Personally I'd say if you like that genre then definately get it, brilliant game with lots to do, then on top of that there are a plethora of mods which add even more. :)

The trouble with threadnaughts like that is that anything you say gets drowned out in the noise and nobody replies to you. At least there's the chance of some replies if you make your own thread.

In answer to the OP: yes, Skyrim is brilliant and you should get it.

Just get Skyrim, its like a game where you go out side and do stuff, but then realise 3 weeks in real life have passed and you haven't been out side to do stuff because Skyrim is just a lot of fun!

Skyrim would be my choice by a country mile. Really engaging game. I have 80 hours logged and have just picked up Dawn guard. This should keep it interesting for even longer. GTA not so much. Depends on what you like though. Saints row 3 is also very GTA like. I enjoyed this more than GTA. Unless you have a very crude sense of humor it may not appeal though.

I'll say this about Skyrim, there's no fear of getting your money's worth.

Some games can be accused of having barely 20-40 hours of game play. This one, you can play it for 10x that long and still only have partial coverage of the content within it at best (not necessarily the main story, but all the side ventures and quests, various guild progressions, and general dungeon / dragon romps, definitely).

Haven't played an Elder Scrolls more than about an hour prior to Skyrim (though I hear the recent ones before it were highly compelling for their time too), but loved and completed this one.

Ha, I went to play last tuesday at 8am...thought I'd better go get some lunch and looked at the clock ....5.23pm FML lol....

So I haven't played this game in ages. I go to load up my save, and I'm like "geez that's fugly!". All my mods have uninstalled. The games has update to 1.7, and NMM has no data for all the mods for some reason. Should I just reinstall them all and hope for the best, or am I looking at a porked game? :(

Looks like it, none of the mods are showing in game. Gonna recreate the ini files and see how it goes.

EDIT: No luck. Oh well, it's "only" a 50 hour game lost lol. Can't remember where I was up to anyway.

So back to level 1 mage we go. What mods are the cool kids using these days?

The classics still stand, but the big ones at the moment are player head tracking, climates of tamriel (with seasons of skyrim ENB), and better vampires.

Dawnguard is good, not as bad as some make out, and hearthfire is coming out soon so designing a new character with different traits might be a blessing in disguise.

player head tracking looks cool, but I only every use third person when running between objectives and taking pretty screenshots :D

CoT looks awesome, I'll have to get that too. Does it have built in DoF? I can't see it referenced in the description?

Oooh good point, I haven't bought Dawnguard. It didn't appeal to me as I'm sick of the whole vampire fad lol.

No, it doesn't have built in DoF, that's where the seasons of Skyrim ENB comes into play. Not to bright at all, no over saturation.

Yeah I know what you mean about Dawnguard but if your sick of vampires, then all the more reason to join them.
