The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Lol! That's quick, but then you'd be a moron to rush through the main story like that. I personally hated Oblivion because after the initial escape from the prison, it gave you no cues as to what exactly you're supposed to be doing... there was no story there at all.

For some reason though I find myself wanting Skyrim...

You can do whatever you want! Thats the beauty of it!

But it gave no direction... I was left without a clue of how any of the game's mechanics worked, or what the hell spells were or how I got to use em. It was being thrown in the deep end without anyone tossing you a single rubber ring. I couldn't care less about what was going on because there was no story telling me what was going on, or involving me in the game in any way.

I dunno, maybe people like that, but if I'm gonna be led through a long-ass, boring-ass tutorial mission, I'd like it to at least be useful. I couldn't get to grips with the game at all because I didn't understand any of it.

Fallout 3 on the other hand is possibly my favourite game of all time... interpret that as you will I guess.

and yet there will be some sad person who claims to finish it in an hour or something equally dumb and will claim the game has been "dumbed down" and is "too short".

A Bethesda QA tester has set the early pace for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim speed runs, completing the forthcoming RPG epic in an impressive two hours and 16 minutes.

:p

Won't be long til a member of the public does it.

On another note, didn't realise how close the release is getting!

I think in the 200+ hours I spent on Oblivion and probably 300+ on Morrowind, about 3 of those was spent on the Main Quest. :)

I've never finished the Main Quest in Oblivion. I normally don't even go through the first gate. :) I did finish Morrowind tho.

I think I got out of Kvatch and that's it! It's great. What I saw of the main quest was disappointing to be honest and since then I didn't bother because the gates were annoying as hell.

I remember doing the Kvatch gate, then loading an earlier save because the flame effects around all the new gates which spawned across the map utterly destroyed my system at the time!

Shortly after that a mod was released which reduced the impact, and I finally got on with the main quest to discover it was an awful lot of repeat quests involving going into the gates, climbing the big tower, and picking up the stone. I loved the game to bits, don't get me wrong, but the main quest seemed like 90% fetch missions once those gates were open.

I can't get into free roaming games, I just tend to get bored to quickly, I play GTA 1 & 2 all the time and just drive round blowing **** up, or finding tanks and kill frenzy bonuses. I doubt I'll be able to get into Skyrim, I prefer games that have a "find the princess/eat the yellow dots/finish the race/kill anything that moves/collect the keys" style plot

Off topic slightly..

Does anyone know why OcUK is charging £43 for this?

Would like to buy it from them as I do with all my other games but that's well over the normal price.

You mean the tutorial that introduced you to various weapons, told you how to use spells, told you about armour, told you about alchemy, told you about repair (I think), told you about lockpicking, told you about sneak, tried to tell you what playstyle you were adopting and suggested a class (and failed 99/100) then told you to sell your gear and get on with your quest or look around?

What exactly were you expecting? Fallout 3s tutorial barely went over any of it, but then I shouldn't think knowing what to do with a gun and what a weapons condition will mean is all that difficult. Then again I can't really understand how you were so clueless you didn't know how to use spells and managed to miss all those spell shops in town so really the fault probably lies with you not the game.

You'd be a fool to buy it at that price when it is easily available for £13 less...

I know I can get it cheaper for sure, but I like to give OcUK my business since they've never really disappointed me when it came to ordering products in the past.

I was just wondering if anyone knew whether or not OcUK were having stock problems or they're being held to some agreement where they cannot sell for anything cheaper, otherwise I'll have to buy elsewhere.

This always happens with games on OcUK - a lot of us would love to buy from them (and have stated this on numerous occasions), but they just aren't competitive in pricing :(

Is there a collector's edition of this game and if so is it available for PC? (unlike some other games released on the same day).

Tried searching and there is mention of one but nobody seems to be stocking it.

It's a shame really. I'll give it until 2 weeks prior to release to see if the price comes down at all, if not I'll have to look elsewhere.

Getting close to the point where I pre-order this. Where is the best place to pre-order or should I just get it from game.co.uk?
