The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Is there a collector's edition of this game and if so is it available for PC? (unlike some other games released on the same day).

Tried searching and there is mention of one but nobody seems to be stocking it.

Yes there is, I think Game is one of the few places stocking it (assuming they still have copies) - £120 though :p

Too much money for me though just to have a dragon on my desk.

Free next day delivery is a bonus as you'd have to pay a good whack for that else where.

Screw free delivery that takes 5-7 business days. :\

I'll just preorder it on Steam TBH, not bothered with an £80 plastic dragon. Get to play it on release day.

I am going to hold out a bit longer, i am still hoping for some kind of special edition with a bit more included. I'm not getting the £130 edition but a map and maybe a nice box would be nice.

It might not come, but i am still hoping for something, plus there aren't many good deals atm anyway

When you preorder it on Steam do you get to start downloading it before release date so it's ready to play on the day with some kind of activation thingy (very slow download speed out here in the sticks)?

How easy is it to mod when it's a steam install?

^I would imagine a game this big will get a pre-load at some point before release. As for modding it should be no problem at all. Bethesda are releasing a kit for us and script extenders will be possible. So it should in theory be as easy or even easier to mod than previous games.

As above, pre-load a few days before release.

Even though a game is on Steam, the original file structure remains the same, except you'd have to go to C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps first instead of C:\Program Files\Bethesda, this means you should just be able to extract mod files from archives without too much bother.

Its not a question of how easy it is to mod. Its a question of just what you can change effectively and whether the game will accept the changes without issues.

Which appears to be the same or better than previous games from what I've heard so far. There will be no ceg encryption so things like obse are possible. The devs have said there is more scripting possibilities built in this time even without an extender so that's a plus. They are still using .nif format for models so nifscope (with maybe a small update) should work fine. The Creation Kit is supposedly more fleshed out/easier to use than the Construction kit was, etc....

I'm tempted to pre-order it so I can play it at 12:01 on 11.11.11, has anyone had any experience with g2play.net? It's £8 cheaper than Steam

Like Rage was and yet i get an fps drop to the likes of which i haven't seen since running my 1st pc :D (slideshow anyone?)

Again, see Rage :)

But back to the topic at hand, I have cancelled my pre-order for skyrim because of ^ that game just so that i don't buy another mess. Been stung once too often in this regard this year.

Ill wait-and-see what it's like on release before commiting to buy it.

Rage sucks, so I've cancelled my Skyrim preorder. Herp derp.
