The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

This is quite an old issue, just download/update the unofficial patches for Skyrim + whatever DLC you have.

It was caused by the Dragonborn DLC changing a file that was also effected by the Skyrim unofficial patch, it has since been fixed.

Soooo i seem to have a problem.

Ive restarted the game and am at the first dragon battle (where you get your first shout).
I kill the dragon then i have to 'investigate dragon' but when i go over i dont get the cutscene. I can loot the dragon but cannot do anything else. Also the guards and iriel (i think) are just cowering and i cannot interact with them. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yeh i had the same problem, i thought it was me tbh, changing mods all the time does not help. I don't think i did a good job of cleaning the main files with TES5edit last time but done it properly this time and my pap log never looked so clean :), only 6kb in size after 1-2 hrs
 
I installed the legendary edition along with a ton of mods (from STEP). I appear to have a memory leak somewhere as the game is fine but starts to glitch (no textures, crashes etc.) after about an hour of game play in places where it was fine before. I also can't walk into the Falkreath Sanctuary without a CTD. I've had a google for known mods to cause a CTD for the Dark Brotherhood but I can't seem to stop mine from doing it; Falkreath was buggy for me before I switched off Birds and Flocks (which also caused crashes previously - thought new PC would fix it!) and the borderless window plugin.

Is there any known conflict that causes the sanctuary to become un-enterable? I can't use the console to enter either as it also crashes the game.
 
The problem with STEP is the pure number of mods it involves, I wouldn't advise installing more than half of them unless you are seriously knowledgeable about dealing with conflicts (I'm certainly not) as with that many mods finding the issue can be next to impossible.

I would go through STEP, select only the mods you think you really want/need and get rid of the rest.

Also are you using BOSS?

The missing textures problem is strange. I can go into Dragonsreach and everything is fine, but re-visit in about an hours time and a few textures (Jarl's clothes, Farengar's clothes, enchanting table) are missing and appear purple or black. It also happens to Dwarven armour. If you save and reload then they are all fine again - must be some kind of memory leak going on.

I have about 270 mods from STEP and elsewhere :p Reasonably experienced as I did a lot of modding in Oblivion with Wrye Bash. I've used BOSS alongside WB for correcting the load order. My old install had about 150 mods (with Nexus Mod Manager, as I didn't know at the time WB was out for Skyrim!) and didn't have any problems except for the Birds and Flocks bug that I found.

Think I may have half-solved it this morning as I was looking through BOSS and noted that it wanted me to clean quite a few mods (and the DLC master files). I've done that and noted a few deleted records for Falkreath so hoping that this cures things. Not had a chance to try our Skyrim again so will have to have a go today and see if it helps!
 
Hi dave, sounds like some serious modding going on :), one problem i can think of if you been playing skyrim with mods installed then you cleaned them in TES5edit doing the master files that what ever was there before is still stuck into your save files, i would suggest either restarting a new game or try this program to clean your save game up http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/31724/?

Just incase you didnt know check out your log file for anything unusual in there that can point out a lot of problems with mods, goto skyrim ini file (not skyrim prefs) and change these

Thats what it looks like when master files been cleaned with TES5edit and using unoffical patches, if your logg file is 100kb and over there is something not right tbh :). I can recommend a few mods which work great and improve the game a lot if your interested ;)
 
UltraDad, you can also set SKSE to clean out save files on a continuous basis.

Add the following to skse.ini

[General]
ClearInvalidRegistrations=1

If skse.ini doesn't exist, create a text document and add the line above and then rename it and place it according to: data\skse\skse.ini

Man i love popping in here catching up on latest mods and skyrim gossip :), i spend more time messing around with mods than playing the game. No matter what mods i install try out and then remove theres a few i always run the game with, a few lesser known mods or they have not be mentioned

First up was the circlets in game, didn't look nice and not much use without max enchanting. Circlet Overhaul http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/36770/? sorts that out, get some realy nice stats on drops. To make them look better using Better Circlets HQ http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6495/? and to make them glow nice http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7488/?.

Everyone uses Cabals armour or immersive armours but the poor old mage is sort of left out, i can recommend the retextures by Lind001 http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35812/?, check linds profile out for the other mage retextures or if you dont mind a few more ESP's in your load order Opulent Outfits http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35002/? is a top retexture. Another mod i use is clothing for mages http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/28964/? adds enchanted clothing to the lvl lists

Need more monsters as its boring knowing where mobs are :p, after a long time trying different mods out these are the ones i stick to now. DFB random encounters, the link is for the MCM menu but also has the link for the original mod http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32394/?. DFB combined with Immersive Creatures http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24913//? gives you more Monsters than you can shake a big stick at, just remember to do a bash patch for the lvl lists. To improve Enemy and Dragon AI to make game more interesting http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/36478/? and are script free

To overhaul the perks i settled on SPERG http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24445/?, if you use this alongside Community uncapper http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1175/? and No Skill Limit http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22800/? you can level your guy forever and the monsters will keep up with you LVL wise

Also have to mention Piratelords loot adjustment http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17930/? adds items into containers, a reason to check barrels and crates now, some dam nice loot in there as well :p

Sorry about all the links got a bit carried away on mods again, gonna try and play game for abit without adding more mods :D

Ps i forgot to mention bugfixes for LvlPredatorScript errors, unoffical patches only do vanilla game but not ones caused by mods, here is the link http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/985247-bugfix-for-lvlpredatorscript-errors-no-more-log-spam/ , he also covers Critters,dunBluePalaceArenaSCRIPT and fxDustDropRandomSCRIPT which have links at bottom of first post, put them all into your data folder and enjoy a cleaner Papyrus log :)

Thanks for the info. I just tried again post-clean and the DB sanctuary still crashes, as you implied. I already have the crash log in my skyrim.ini, but I can't seem to find the log file. The folder containing skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini have no log files; the saves and SKSE subdirectories in here also have no log file (except for the SKSE logs).

It will start working straight away and will continue to clear out your save file as you visit different in-game locations. Assuming there are invalid registrations, you should notice a reduction in your savegame file size almost immediately.
 
Just try the top ten of all time on the nexus. Golden rules. Dont save and take mod off. Dont install brand new mods that change things that dont have revisions, and leave ugrids well alone.

Other than that, its up to you to mould your own game dude.
 
Yup. Prefer not to see the back end of a man while im wandering round forsworn territory lol. Some lads dont like playing as a bird, but the vast majority of pc skyrim players have unp or calientes modded glamazons.

On a different note, dont add too many texture mods unless you're running a 3gb card. Honestly, dont touch ugrids. Realvision ENB is excellent. There really are so many good mods out there, your best bet is to play vanilla for a bit and then look at things you think you want to change.
