The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Very nice, and your DOF seems toned down nicely enough to not be annoying while actually playing the game :)

Was having a play around, not certain on the settings but it's never too overpowering, still a lot when riding horses but I like that.

That all just looks too dark for me.

When I get my comparisons up I'll show the difference, may playing around with the settings to show what darkness levels you can set and such. I prefer mine dark, as in real life it would be pure darkness.

Looks amazing. My PC would shoot itself.

Thanks! It's not too bad in all fairness, for 110+ mods I expected poor performance all the time, the occasional drops due to heavy textures happens, but it's smooth! :)

Very nice, like the dark...proper darkness. I need to start fiddling with this to get it working again :)

You should, it's worth it! :cool:

@ThaReaperGuy Those screens are stunning, damn I might break off Metro 2033 to atart modding Skyrim again. It might be a good time to...

If I do get into serious modding again I know that will take over for a long time, must backup the Skyrim folder first..!

How complete is your guide now, in terms of being able to use it and hopefully avoid too many burps on the way..?
Also I have in the past preferred to use the Mod Manager from Nexus as it also controls the mods for Fallout 3 / NV and other games.

BTW please consider having a word with Neil..

Thanks, I'm happy where it's at now and actually enjoying playing the game, now is a very good time to start modding Skyrim, it can be made to look beautiful.
Will have a word with Neil and see if he'll update the OP for me. :)

If you're using Mod Organiser, you won't need to take a backup, as all the mods/textures/everything is kept under MO and then loaded into the game, rather than the Skyrim folder being overwheled with mods.

My guide is complete to the stage of the screenshots I'm posting, the only thing left is ENB comparisons, Grass comparisons, and some tweak settings like Nvidia Inspector for SLI performance & extra mods like No Intro.

Speaking of which:

Skyrim No Intro Mod - Removes the start up intro:

Thanks, shame that no ENB is ever always right :).

I still get random hitches/stutters. Sometimes dragons are transparent when you look at them through fog/mist. No doubt there are probably more problems :). Not been to Solstheim yet, no doubt it won't look right. Not been to the Soul Cairn either, will probably be nice and sunny.

I noticed in your guide when installing SKSE, no mention of creating the skse.ini file? \Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data\SKSE\skse.ini

[General]
ClearInvalidRegistrations=1

[Memory]
DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768
ScrapHeapSizeMB=256

Maybe you use alternative memory patcher though.

Just noticed the Skyrim Stuttering 64hz Bug Fix, will give that a go. Skeptical though as with Vsync on I never get to 64Hz.

Don't need a mod to skip the intro, just add "SIntroSequence=" to Skyrim.ini.

I get this issue also, when they're flying but as they come to ground their scales and such look proper, not found the reason for this.

I use the skse.ini and had thought I had added it already, just noticed I only included the installation, thanks for pointing that out.

Oh, really? - That make's it much more simpler, thanks for this, I had googled ages ago and found the MOD first so used that. :)

Thanks for the update on skse and no intro! Replied in your quote.

Now that's what I'm aiming for!

What GPU setup are you running?

Just the 1x GTX 970 :).

You can just create the folder and .ini file yourself. Although the folder should already be there from when you installed Stable uGridsToLoad :).

I just set ReservedMemorySizeMb=1024 in enblocal.ini. It seems smoother, shall have to test it for longer. That stutter remove mod had no effect. No surprise really as I already had 60FPS limit and render ahead set to 2.

Thanks, what do you have your uGrids set to?

Don't any of the mods over at Nexus have a preference to b installed with their own NMM an can sometimes cause issues with the MO...? Or have I understood that wrong and should have no problems in using it...?

Just going to install RealVision ENB and then a good play.

I've got to the installation part where it asks for the amount of VRAM. It wont allow me to enter 1536MB. Do I enter 1GB and then manually change the setting in enblocal.ini?

Well I entered 1024 and in enblocal it set it to 5GB, so whatever. We will try this.

I think I need to make some compromises before heading to stage #9 in Reaper's excellent guide. I installed the 2k textures and I think I would benefit from unintstalling and installing 1k versions instead.

Question is, will I need to reinstall other mods that come after it in the order set out in #8? I'm thinking the 1k textures might overwrite something?

In SkyrimPrefs.ini. As long as you have Deailed Shadows on in ENB (pretty much all have it on by default) you can lower your shadow settings and not notice much loss of quality.

fShadowDistance=2500.0000
iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=1024
iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=1024
iShadowMapResolution=1024

Might be a bit thick here but first time using MO and it seems to use an older version of Loot and so I downloaded a newer one but the way that MO separates its mod from the more conventional method which NMM uses it no longer picks up that any mod is installed.

What have I missed and is there a way to update the Loot version that MO uses, rather than a separate one...?
