The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Characters looks are to personal taste really. I'm not into that look as it seems very anime or puppet like and a bit out of place imo.

Body mods like UMP and CBBE deserve to be in the OP somewhere as a base to build on.

UNP are already in the OP, just not linked for reasons..

I'm just using the best follower mods :) Will post more in a bit

Some shadow issues which I need to address but nothing major!

Have also added animation specifics such as facial moods to the OP, which includes showing their teeth if they smile :D

I had an issue when I last heavily played Skyrim last year, I would be grateful for feedback on.

Every time I played Skyrim, starting a fresh with a new character, I found it would be 100% stable until about 80 to 90 hours in, where by it would start crashing every hour or two. The crashes could be anywhere outside, just wondering around Skyrim. I re-rolled 3 times and each time I'd get 80 to 90 hours in and stability would suddenly become an issue.

Yes my skyrim was graphically modded but done correctly with sorted load orders etc and none of them were scripted. I also played with the unofficial patches, official patches and all dlc.

I'd like to return to Skyrim but not if its going to always become unstable, just when my toon just starts to get into the higher levels.

Incidentally I found my save files had just got to around 9mb to 10mb in size when the stability issues hit. But from all my research at the time, that file size was normal and certainly did not appear to be bloated. So my conclusion was after 3 attempts was that the late game of Skyrim was just buggy and induced stability problems.

Was I wrong and if so what could have been the cause? Could it have been the unofficial patches? Can anyone confirm 100% vanilla does not show these symptoms after 80 plus hours?

Win 7 64 bit and usual high end kit.

Did you use MO for modding? The reason I ask, I have 91 mods installed currently. I can disable all, none or some of them and my save file is not affected. In fact, I went back to Vanilla last night because a mod was causing me problems.

So, 92 mods installed last night... and 91 installed now. :cool:

Yep did all the latest tips and tricks at the time including LOOT etc. Like I say none of the mods were scripted anyway and also why 80 to 90 hours before issues arose... strange but it was a deal breaker for me at the time.

That's very odd indeed, especially if you say you are staying away from scripted mods which are the usual cause of save game bloat and eventual instability. Did you ever mess with ugrids during any of your play time? That's notorious for screwing things up, if not straight away then eventually.

For the record, I'm 250+ hours played on several characters and am at the 255 mod limit. I stay away from very heavily scripted mods and in a typical 4-6 hour session I *might* get thrown to desktop once - twice if I'm really unlucky. Which is about as stable as Skyrim gets :D

lol, yeah that kind of stability would have me uninstalling skyrim. Just wish I could roll that way and not care, but I can't man. :)

Perhaps if I ask this differently.
Does anyone know if vanilla Skyrim would be pretty much 100% stable even after 100's of hours on one character? Cheers.

One for the G-Sync owners. Credit to wunkley for pointing this out to me. :cool:

NEW FIX DISCOVERED BY wunkley :

(NOTE: This fix seems only good and worthwhile for gsync monitors as it appears to disable vsync, even if it's enabled in the 'enblocal' file. )

1. Download "Skyrim Stuttering 64hz Bug Fix" from Skyrimnexus.

To install, put the d3d9.dll and antilag.cfg in the Skyrim executable directory.

As I am using ENB it's therefore important to do the following:

- rename the d3d9.dll file from the Skyrim Stuttering 64hz Bug Fix to "other_d3d9.dll". In the enblocal config file make the proxylibrary use this new one. So it looks like:
[PROXY]
EnableProxyLibrary=true
InitProxyFunctions=true
ProxyLibrary=other_d3d9.dll

The ENB I am using was using a ProxyLibrary entry here for "d3d9_smaa.dll" but on testing I see no bad effects from not using this, and anti aliasing can be applied through the ENB settings anyway (just use Edge AA)!

You can edit the antilag.cfg file, but the default values of RenderAheadLimit=2 and FPSlimit=60 are best

2. Open up your Skyrim ini file in your Documents\my Games\Skyrim folder and add the following line under the [General] section at the top:

iFPSClamp=60

With these fixes, it is so so smooth, and gsync really works well too if the framerate dips below 60.
The only problem is using the iFPSClamp=60. If the framerate dips below 60 the game goes into very slight 'slow motion'. Lower the framerate the slower the motion. As I have a good system it rarely dips below 50fps, so it's the best trade off all round.
